A close associate of Vladimir Putin has issued a threat to unleash nuclear bombs on two cities in the United Kingdom.
Just as tensions seemed to be easing amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, especially with Donald Trump appearing to shift his stance on Ukraine, the situation now appears to be escalating.
One of Russia’s prominent propagandists has declared on his state-controlled television program that the Kremlin might consider bombing the UK.
During a conversation with Sergei Karaganov, Vladimir Solovyov listened as Karaganov suggested that the use of tactical nuclear weapons might be the only solution to end hostilities between the US and Russia.
Karaganov described it as ‘foolish’ to dismiss the idea of nuclear war or to claim it couldn’t be used to achieve victory.
He then focused on Europe, asserting that the continent should understand that Russia is ready to deploy its arsenal, and that sending two nuclear bombs would serve as a clear message to demonstrate their seriousness.
This is not the first occasion Karaganov has advocated for nuclear conflict, as he previously stated that while the use of such weapons in drastic situations is a ‘terrible sin’, failing to use them and subjecting your people and the world to a significant war is an even greater sin. That, he claimed, is an even more dreadful sin.”
Karaganov has also made earlier remarks suggesting the UK ‘should be nuked off the map’.
Solovyov further proposed that Russia should target Oxford and Cambridge in the UK to dismantle ‘British elites’ and their renowned institutions.
This development follows a bold claim by the US President that Kyiv has the potential to ‘win all of Ukraine back in its original form’ in its conflict with Russia.
In a post on Truth Social, he expressed confidence that with the assistance of Europe and NATO, Ukraine could regain ‘the original borders from where this war started’.
This statement was made after he had met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following the UN General Assembly in New York on September 23.
Trump’s new perspective emerged after he claimed to have ‘gotten to know and fully understand the Ukraine/Russia military and economic situation’, stating: “Putin and Russia are in BIG Economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act.”
In response, Zelenskyy expressed to Fox News that Trump’s comments on Truth Social regarding Ukraine were a ‘positive signal’ indicating that the US ‘will be with us to the end of the war’.
“I think the fact that Putin was lying to President Trump so many times also made a difference between us,” he told Fox News.
Trump also described Russia as a ‘paper tiger’, prompting a sharp retort from the nation.
Trump elaborated on Russia: “With time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original Borders from where this war started, is very much an option.
“Why not? Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years, a War that should have taken a Real Military Power less than a week to win. This is not distinguishing Russia. In fact, it is very much making them look like ‘a paper tiger.”
The Kremlin objected to the ‘paper tiger’ characterization, and Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, responded: “[Russia] is not a tiger but a bear. Russia is associated with a bear; there are no paper bears.”
The Kremlin further insisted that the conflict was ‘not an aimless war’ and cautioned that he was ‘deeply mistaken’ if he believed Ukraine could reclaim its territory.
Contact was made with Downing Street for their perspective on the matter.
