Netflix enthusiasts binge-watch 91% rated series ‘better than Squid Game’ as it returns for season three

Netflix viewers are captivated by a ‘gripping’ and ‘visually stunning’ series, which has returned for its third season.

With a library of over 7,000 titles, the streaming giant offers a TV series that holds a 91 percent rating, making it a must-watch if it hasn’t caught your attention yet.

Set in Japan, this series is getting compared to Korea’s Squid Game, which wrapped up in June. However, many viewers express a preference for the Japanese series over its Netflix counterpart.

Returning with six new episodes on Thursday (September 25), the sci-fi survival drama unfolds in a haunting, deserted version of Tokyo.

The plot follows a group of individuals abruptly trapped in the city, where they are forced to engage in perilous and mind-bending games to survive.

Featuring Kento Yamazaki, Tao Tsuchiya, and Nijirō Murakami, the show originally debuted on Netflix in 2020.

Despite being introduced a few years ago, the series continues to draw in new fans who express their enthusiasm across social media platforms.

The show in question is Alice in Borderland, adapted from Haro Aso’s manga series of the same name. Its second season boasts an 86 percent critics’ score and a 91 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, solidifying its status as a beloved survival thriller.

It’s an ideal choice for those seeking a compelling series to indulge in, especially if Squid Game left you wanting more.

On Rotten Tomatoes, Steve Greene from IndieWire described Alice in Borderland’s second season as ‘a dream you try to remember the next morning,’ noting: “It doesn’t always make sense. When you’re deep in it, though, there’s nothing else that’s quite like it.”

Others quickly remarked on the season’s ‘shocking’ cliff-hanger ending.

Viewers commented that it surpassed Squid Game, with one stating about the second season: “Better than season one. I enjoyed this more than Squid Game. It actually has more heartfelt moments.”

“Great characters, intense games, love and death. Unmissable stuff,” said another, while a third added: “Much like season one, the cinematography was stunning, the gore was intense, and the character development was so strong it felt like I was right there with them.”

The discussion continued on Facebook, where a user posted a show poster on the Facebook Group Netflix Bangers, writing: “Agree with me or not but ALICE IN BORDERLAND>>SQUID GAME.”

Many agreed, with one commenting: “Better story, better characters, more interesting games. Insane plot twist.

“Overall Alice in Borderland is way better than Squid Game.”

“Alice in Borderland is insanely good! Deserve the hype like Squid Game got but sadly doesn’t get it,” another pointed out.

A third person remarked: “Alice in Borderland has more serious and badass characters than SG.”

“After watching Squid Game 2 I would have to say Alice in Borderland is better,” another viewer concluded.

All three seasons of Alice in Borderland are available for streaming on Netflix.
