Alana Thompson, also known as Honey Boo Boo, was urgently taken to the hospital following a car crash.
Honey Boo Boo first became known on TLC’s Toddlers & Tiaras and later starred in her own series, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
Her mother, June Thompson, affectionately referred to as ‘Mama June,’ also gained popularity from the shows and was given her own reality series.
Mama June, who has a significant Instagram following, shared the news with her 813,000 followers on Friday (September 26) about Honey Boo Boo’s involvement in the accident.
“Somebody actually wasn’t paying attention and T-boned her on her road,” June explained regarding the accident. “They are always speeding on her road.”
June further disclosed that the driver at fault was a 23-year-old man who confessed he was going 40mph and ‘probably wasn’t paying attention’.
“With that being said, Alana is fine,” June assured everyone. “She was hit on the driver’s side of her car. It could have been a lot worse. She was [taken] to the hospital.
“She does have back pain, she is having some headache issues, but we are headed to Denver to be able to get her a rental car and to get her set.”
In her video caption, Mama June expressed how her ‘stomach dropped’ upon receiving the call about the accident, particularly since they live ’23 hours away’ from each other.
“Today is definitely been a crazy day since 3 o’clock,” she wrote. “This is [why] I hate that Alana Thompson is 23 hours away, but she is following her dreams when you get that phone call and your stomach drops and all you can hear is someone hollering.”
June confirmed that Honey Boo Boo is now recuperating at home.
“She is resting. It could’ve been a lot worse than it was. She is banged up a little bit but other than that she is OK first car wreck.”
In a subsequent update on Saturday (September 27), June mentioned she had spoken to her daughter who reported feeling ‘sore this morning’.
June expressed gratitude for the thoughts and prayers and pledged to keep everyone updated with more details.
Honey Boo Boo has yet to make a public statement about the incident.
