FBI agent discloses how serial killer informant evaded detection and targeted victims for years

A former FBI agent has revealed that one of their informants was, in fact, a serial killer who had managed to evade capture for years.

The convicted killer was able to commit multiple murders while simultaneously working as an informant for the FBI, remaining undetected for a significant period.

Scott Kimball was given a 70-year prison sentence in Colorado in 2009 after admitting to the murder of four individuals between 2003 and 2004.

Former FBI Special Agent Jonny Grusing has indicated that Kimball’s actual victim count might be higher than what is known.

Grusing pointed out that Kimball had frequently been employed by the FBI as an informant, with the agency unaware of his shocking criminal activities.

A notorious con artist, Kimball had served time both in his youth and as an adult, during which he became skilled at exploiting the justice system and manipulating those around him.

He even hinted at the idea of killing witnesses to a cellmate, Steve Ennis, and then informed the FBI of Ennis’s supposed ‘plan,’ using this to build trust and become an informant.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Grusing explained, “He made a game out of tricking the FBI.

“As long as he won the game in front of him, that’s all that mattered.

“To have someone who enjoyed manipulating us, putting stuff in our files, and then making people disappear was beyond anything I’d seen.”

Among Kimball’s victims was Jennifer Marcum, the girlfriend of his cellmate.

Grusing elaborated: “Our primary victim in our case was Jennifer Marcum. Mainly, he convinced Steve [Ennis] to hook him up with Jennifer to get Jennifer out of stripping.

“So, at the same time he’s making Steve look like the bad guy, he’s taking Jennifer and isolating her and killing her.”

By February 2003, Kimball had become an informant for the agency, coinciding with the month Marcum was murdered.

After his arrest and charges, Kimball reportedly confessed to killing at least 21 people and claimed responsibility for up to 50 murders to his attorneys.

Authorities later discovered that Scott had murdered another stripper, LeAnn Emry, before Marcum.

He also confessed to killing Kayci Mcloed, who had disappeared, as well as his uncle, Terry Kimball, in 2004.

The FBI managed to build a case against Kimball while he was incarcerated, driven by pressure from the families of the missing women last seen with him, according to Grusing.

The former agent stated: “And that’s when two dads came to the FBI office to talk to my boss and say, not only was Scott responsible for Jennifer’s disappearance, but another girl named Kayci was last with Scott, and that reporting was in the case file.

“But Scott had mastered such that, again, he enjoyed the game, and it was like leaving little breadcrumbs to say, ‘I’m so good at this, I can tell you about these homicides, and you’ll never know I’m doing them.”

Authorities eventually located the remains of McLeod and Emry. However, Marcum’s remains have never been found.
