Turning Point USA, a conservative organization initiated by Charlie Kirk, is planning its own halftime performance while Bad Bunny is set to headline the official halftime show at next year’s Super Bowl.
Every year, while the NFL games attract numerous viewers, many people also tune in specifically for the halftime entertainment.
Excitement has been mounting regarding who will take the stage at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, in February, with the NFL recently revealing that Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny will headline the highly anticipated event.
The selection of next year’s performer has caused some controversy at the White House, particularly with President Donald Trump, who described the decision as ‘crazy’.
In response, Turning Point USA has announced an alternative to the Super Bowl LX halftime show, aiming to highlight ‘faith, family, and freedom’.
“It’s true, Turning Point USA is thrilled to announce The All American Halftime Show,” the group posted on Twitter. “Performers and event details coming soon.”
Bad Bunny has faced criticism, particularly from conservative figures, due to his decision to not bring his tour to the US, citing concerns that ICE might target concert-goers.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has confirmed that ICE agents will be present at the Super Bowl.
“I have the responsibility for making sure everybody who goes to the Super Bowl has the opportunity to enjoy it and to leave, and that’s what America is about,” she expressed on The Benny Show podcast.
“So yeah, we’ll be all over that place. We’re going to enforce the law.”
On Saturday (October 4), Bad Bunny addressed the criticism during his hosting gig on the 51st season of Saturday Night Live.
Amid cheers, he stated: “I’m doing the Super Bowl halftime show and I’m very happy,” and jokingly added: “And I think everyone is very happy about it. Even Fox News.”
The announcement from Turning Point USA is among the most notable since Erika Kirk, Charlie Kirk’s wife, assumed the role of CEO after her husband’s assassination.
Kirk was tragically killed at an event hosted by Turning Point USA at Utah Valley University last month.
The 22-year-old suspect, Tyler Robinson, is currently in custody without bail and is facing several charges, including aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, witness tampering, and committing a violent offense in the presence of a child.
