Jimmy Kimmel Mocks Donald Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize Bid Before He Misses Out

Jimmy Kimmel has quickly resumed his comedic jabs at President Donald Trump since coming back to his show, recently targeting the Republican’s attempts to win a Nobel Peace Prize just before he missed out on the honor.

ABC had suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! last month following the host’s remarks regarding the death of the 79-year-old conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The network’s decision to cut the 57-year-old host was praised by Trump on Truth Social. However, after facing public backlash, ABC reversed its decision, allowing Kimmel to return to the air.

Since his return, Kimmel has continued to target Trump, labeling him a ‘bully’ in response to Trump’s suggestion of potentially suing ABC again, as mentioned on Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social.

“I’ve seen a lot of Oscar and Emmy campaigns but no one has ever vied for an award more vigorously,” Kimmel quipped as a series of clips showed Trump discussing his desire for the award.

Just prior to the announcement of the winner, the White House shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter), referring to Trump as ‘The Peace President’.

In response, Kimmel jested about Trump’s ‘peace president’ title by suggesting he was deploying a platoon to ‘invade a yoga studio in Portland’—a humorous criticism of the Trump administration’s intention to deploy the National Guard during Oregon protests, which was repeatedly blocked by federal courts (as reported by the BBC).

The announcement revealed that the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Venezuelan politician María Corina Machado.

On X (formerly Twitter), the Nobel Prize stated: “The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the 2025 #NobelPeacePrize to Maria Corina Machado for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”

Machado is recognized as a Venezuelan politician and industrial engineer, currently leading the opposition in Venezuela, and served as a National Assembly member from 2011 to 2014.

The prize will be presented to her in a ceremony scheduled for December 10, 2025, in Oslo, Norway.

Following this decision, the White House criticized the Nobel Committee for allegedly prioritizing ‘politics over peace’. Trump, however, stated that he anticipated being overlooked but maintained that he ‘deserves’ the prize.

In a February meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, Trump remarked: “They will never give me a Nobel Peace Prize. I deserve it, but they will never give it to me.”

Trump has frequently asserted that his efforts have been crucial in ending various global conflicts.

“I’ve done six wars, I’ve ended six wars,” he claimed in August during a summit with Ukrainian and European leaders.

“If you look at the six deals I settled this year, they were all at war. I didn’t do any ceasefires.”
