A medical professional has disclosed what occurs within your body during ‘No Nut November’.
With Halloween approaching, individuals globally are preparing for firework displays, bonfires, and the tradition of growing a moustache, popularly known as Movember.
Yet, there’s another ritual that accompanies autumn: No Nut November, a well-known month-long challenge where participants abstain from sex or masturbation for the entire duration.
The origins of No Nut November are somewhat ambiguous, but it began gaining widespread attention online in 2017.
According to Oxford Online Pharmacy, the perceived advantages of this practice include enhanced muscle growth, increased stamina, fuller hair, and improved sperm quality.
However, a medical expert has now offered insight into what actually transpires during these 30 days, highlighting some potential side effects of this trend.
Dr. Alexis Missick, an expert in erectile dysfunction from UK Meds, shared with The Daily Star that masturbation has several benefits.
“Masturbation actually has beneficial effects on testosterone levels and libido, almost like a positive advocate loop,” she mentioned.
“By masturbating, it can delay the time to ejaculation, almost like building stamina and routine.”
“It can also alleviate some psychological issues such as low self-esteem and performance anxiety, which could otherwise increase the likelihood of erectile dysfunction.”
“The opposite is also true – abstaining from masturbation could potentially exacerbate premature ejaculation and indirectly contribute to erectile dysfunction.”
In addition, Dr. Rena Malik, a urologist and sexual health expert, discussed on her YouTube channel the potential downsides of joining No Nut November, stressing the benefits of masturbation that participants might miss.
She stated: “There are numerous benefits to masturbation, including improved sleep, reduced heart rate, decreased stress, and a significant increase in feel-good hormones.”
“Some individuals may experience discomfort or pain in their pelvic region or testicles. Many are familiar with the term ‘blue balls’.”
Last year, Dr. Karan Rajan also used social media to highlight the importance of masturbation, mentioning on TikTok: “Wet dreams or nocturnal emissions aren’t always about sexual arousal. Nocturnal emissions are a way for the body to clear out sperm.”
“Your sperm has an expiration date, so if you haven’t fired your gooey cannon in a while, your body gets rid of the old stuff while you sleep.”
Rajan further added: “If your body didn’t reabsorb sperm, your dingleberries would swell up.”
As with numerous health trends, there is currently a lack of concrete evidence supporting the alleged benefits of No Nut November.
