50 Cent appears to take a jab at Travis Kelce’s ex following Taylor Swift engagement rumors

50 Cent seems to have taken a jab at Travis Kelce’s former partner with a sharp comment.

Fans are buzzing about the timing, coinciding with rumors of an engagement between Taylor Swift and Kelce.

In a surprising turn of events, 50 Cent was questioned about Swift after she mentioned him in a track from her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”

In “Ruin the Friendship,” Swift recalls a missed romantic moment during a high school dance when 50 Cent was a prominent figure in music.

“But as the 50 Cent song played / Should’ve kissed you anyway,” Swift sings.

During his interview with Extra, 50 Cent described the mention as ‘cool’ and ‘exciting,’ noting, “No one was more prominent in music at that point.”

“It really is cool because when she makes the reference, if you listen to the song, it’s to what was going on in culture at that time,” he explained.

“The music, you couldn’t miss it at that point and that’s why it was cool to me… What she was making reference to is the period that no one was more prominent in music at that point.”

The rapper also expressed his fondness for ‘her boyfriend’ and his team, the Kansas City Chiefs: “I like the whole thing.”

When asked about his opinion on Swift and Kelce as a couple, 50 Cent nodded with a broad smile, saying, “I do, I like it a lot better than the last thing he had. It’s a lot better.”

His remarks seem to be directed at Kelce’s previous girlfriend, influencer Kayla Nicole.

Nicole and Kelce were together from 2017 to 2022, and the Super Bowl winner began his relationship with Taylor in the summer of 2023. They announced their engagement at the end of August, soon after Taylor revealed her new album on the New Heights podcast.

The couple shared their engagement news on Instagram with a series of photos depicting them surrounded by flowers, captioned: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Although Kayla did not directly respond to the engagement news, she posted on her Instagram Story about actively choosing ‘joy’ in life.

The post featured a clip of actor Tracee Ellis Ross discussing the distinction between joy and happiness: “I think joy is different from happiness. Happiness is something you can get at 7-Eleven, and joy is something that you earn and work for and takes practice.”

Nicole commented alongside the clip: “Read about this very concept years ago in a book called ‘Choose Joy: Because Happiness Isn’t Enough’. I aspire! So so good.”

Meanwhile, some of Swift’s fans are speculating that another track on her album titled “Opalite” is a direct jab at Nicole.

“You couldn’t understand it, why you felt alone/You were in it for real, she was in her phone/And you were just a post,” sings Swift.

Nicole has previously spoken about the ‘overwhelming’ experience of having a public breakup following her split with Kelce.

During her appearance on Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test, Nicole shared how being in the public eye affected her, stating: “It’s pretty constant and exhausting…

“I could post about the sky being blue and people will have a response about an ex and their new situation. It’s inadvertently affected me to the point where it makes me question my overall value as a person.”
