Hailey Bieber recently addressed some rumors during a podcast interview where she shared that she has faced online trolls who question her gender identity.
The 28-year-old model is known for confronting internet speculation head-on, having previously denied rumors of marital issues with her husband, Justin Bieber. This isn’t the only gossip she encounters.
Aside from marriage rumors, Hailey has opened up about facing ‘mean’ comments regarding her gender identity.
On October 24, the founder of Rhode Skin joined her friend Owen Thiele on his podcast, In Your Dreams With Owen Thiele.
During their discussion, Hailey adjusted a pillow behind her, remarking that her denim jeans were bunched up, creating the appearance of a male feature.
Thiele jokingly suggested she was ‘being hard’, to which Hailey humorously replied: “The rumours are true.”
The host was taken aback by her comment, asking if people actually say that. Hailey explained she has indeed received ‘trolling’ comments questioning if she is transgender.
“People are trying to be mean,” she added. “They’re like, ‘She looks trans’. And I’m like, why do you think that’s a diss?”
Hailey continued: “As if being trans is a diss? They’re some of the most beautiful women in the world – and men – are trans.
“And so I just don’t take that offensively at all.”
Her remarks were met with praise from podcast listeners, with one YouTube user commenting: “Love how she clapped the transphobic haters. Queen behavior fr.”
Another listener noted: “Hailey clocked people using “trans” as an insult,” while someone else commented: “I love Hailey sm, she’s so beautiful and kind.”
During the interview, she also addressed other rumors, such as the claim that she manages her husband’s career.
“A couple months ago it was like, ‘Hailey is doing management for her husband,’ like I’m taking over to be his manager,” Hailey said.
“Like, there’s no world which that would ever…but also that’s my husband, what do we think is going on here?”
This kind of speculation doesn’t faze her either, finding the notion ‘really funny’, and adding: “Because it was so ridiculous and far-fetched.”
