A former news anchor who once worked for Fox has been arrested, suspected of having murdered her mother in her own residence.
Authorities had already confirmed that they responded to a call regarding a ‘reported cutting’ at a Wichita, Kansas home shortly before 8 a.m. on Friday, October 31.
The Sedgwick County Police Department initially shared this information in a press release on Facebook.
Angelynn Mock, aged 47, who was previously employed at KTVI Fox 2 in Missouri as a morning and evening fill-in anchor between 2011 and 2015, was apprehended at the scene.
A local resident, Alyssa Castro, recounted to regional media about witnessing Mock exit a dwelling covered in blood.
She stated: “There was a woman who approached [her and her boyfriend’s] vehicle with like blood, like her hands were filled, her body was filled with blood, asking to call 911.”
According to Castro, Mock asked for a phone and subsequently re-entered the house to contact the authorities.

Sedgwick County dispatchers informed KAKE media outlet that Mock told the authorities she had ‘stabbed her mother to save herself.’
Upon arrival, law enforcement found Mock waiting outside the home with visible cuts on her hands.
Inside, officers found Mock’s mother, Anita Avers, aged 80, in bed with multiple stab wounds.
Authorities reported that she was unresponsive and was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead just 30 minutes later.
Avers’ husband verified that she was a marriage and family therapist at Wichita Counseling Professionals.
Mock has been taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, currently held at Sedgwick County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Castro and her boyfriend retrieved their phone and expressed relief at being able to assist. Castro remarked on the seemingly ‘random’ nature of the incident.
She noted: “Like, we never know what anyone is going through. This happened randomly, but as long as we were able to get 911 and see what we can do, that’s all I really care about.”
Despite Mock’s alleged statements to the dispatchers, her motive remains unclear, and the police have begun an investigation to gather more details about the case.
No information is currently available regarding Mock’s next court appearance.
