George Clooney offers unique glimpse into marriage with wife Amal, shares secret to avoiding arguments

George Clooney has shared insights into his life with his wife Amal, revealing that their happiness comes from not sweating the small stuff and avoiding arguments entirely.

While it sounds straightforward, the idea of never arguing with your partner seems almost impossible.

During an interview with CBS News, the acclaimed actor discussed how getting older has influenced his perspective on life and how this has contributed to a harmonious relationship with his wife, who is an international human rights lawyer.

“Well, when you’re younger, you want to be right about everything, you know. ‘Don’t paint that color wall!’” Clooney explained to correspondent Seth Doane. “And you know, Amal and I – everybody gets ticked off when I say it – but we don’t. We’ve never had a fight. We never had an argument.”

“And some of it is because I’m at this point in life where if she wants to paint the wall red, I don’t care. You get to a point in life where you just go, why would that be a discussion or an argument?”

The 64-year-old actor, who once thought he ‘didn’t have much of a chance’ with 47-year-old Amal, continued: “We have a really amazing relationship because we’re also so supportive of each other that it’s like I don’t care. When I was younger, I don’t know that that would have been the case – I think I would have found things to, you know, stick my chest out about.”

“It doesn’t matter. I don’t care.”

The Ocean’s Eleven star also reflected on aging and the wisdom it brings, emphasizing the importance of focusing on what truly matters.

“When I turned 60, Amal and I talked about it and I said, ‘look, 60 years old, I can still play basketball with the boys. I’m still athletic. But in 25 years, I’ll be 85. And that’s a real number’,” he noted.

“So, we have to focus on spending time with our family, spending time with the people we love because at the end of your life, you don’t go, ‘I wish I worked more’.”

Clooney and Amal were introduced through a mutual friend in 2013, and they tied the knot a year later in a lavish ceremony in Venice, Italy.

The couple became parents to twins, Alexander and Ella, in 2017.

Amal has also expressed her admiration for her husband, describing him as ‘the brightest light’ during her speech at the 2023 DVF Awards.

After more than ten years together, it seems their secret is to prioritize peace over pride, and it’s a lesson we can all appreciate!
