Film enthusiasts are buzzing about a new movie on Netflix, which they are calling the ‘best original film’ they’ve witnessed.
The eagerly awaited horror film has recently debuted on Netflix, with audiences already dubbing it a ‘masterpiece’.
Guillermo del Toro is renowned for his horror films, which often feature stunning prosthetic and make-up work, alongside historical settings and elements of fairy tales.
Perhaps his most acclaimed work is Pan’s Labyrinth, set during Franco’s rule in Spain. It follows the story of young Ofelia as she moves to a military outpost with her mother and her new stepfather, a fascist officer in Franco’s regime.
Pan’s Labyrinth intertwines Ofelia’s adventures with the faun Pan, who claims she is the reincarnation of an underworld princess, against the backdrop of democratic forces battling fascists. It questions whether the real monsters are the fantastical creatures or the people around her in real life.
Del Toro’s latest work brings a fresh take on a gothic horror classic.

This film is based on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, a pioneering work of gothic horror fiction.
Mary Shelley began crafting Frankenstein at the age of 18 during a bet with poets Lord Byron and Percy Shelley to see who could write the finest horror story.
The novel tells the story of an intelligent yet innocent creature brought to life by Victor Frankenstein, who turns to revenge and violence after facing constant mistreatment due to his appearance.
Frankenstein has been adapted for the big screen many times, though some versions stray from the book’s portrayal of the Creature as an innocent figure driven to despair, instead depicting him as a more straightforward monster.
Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, and Mia Goth are featured in the new adaptation, which is earning accolades on social media for staying true to the novel.

One viewer commented: “Finally, after a bunch of okay, mediocre, and awful adaptations of Mary Shelley’s classic, Guillermo del Toro gets to have his vision fully realized. This is one of the most faithful and breathtaking versions ever made.”
The reviewer continued to commend the film’s production, noting: “The visuals are phenomenal, the acting is outstanding all around — though Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi stand out. The writing and direction are perfect. The music is haunting, and the cinematography is some of the best of the year.”
Another person wrote: “Every movie by Guillermo del Toro is the best.”
A third added: “It’s del Toro, the creatures are going to look awesome.”
