Cruise Line Releases Statement Following Passenger’s Mysterious Death and FBI Inquiry

An incident involving a passenger’s death on a Carnival Cruise ship has prompted an FBI investigation.

The vessel was en route to Miami on Saturday, 8 November, when the unfortunate event occurred, as confirmed by the cruise line in a statement.

The FBI has stated that the incident remains an “ongoing matter,” and their officers have been actively involved in the investigation.

The cruise liner was set to dock at Port Miami as planned on Saturday and managed to adhere to its schedule.

Carnival has expressed its condolences and is offering support to the family of the deceased passenger.

The Carnival Horizon ship can accommodate up to 3,960 guests, along with 1,450 crew members. It sails to the Caribbean from Miami and Galveston, Texas, according to details on the cruise line’s official website.

Following the incident, Carnival issued a statement regarding the tragedy on its ship.

In the statement, the company noted: “Since this is an ongoing matter under the jurisdiction of law enforcement, all media inquiries need to be directed to the FBI’s Miami public affairs office.”

They further stated: “Our focus is on supporting the family of our guest.”

The FBI confirmed to PEOPLE that their agents had responded to the scene of the incident.

FBI Special Agent Willie Creech commented: “Because this is an ongoing matter, no further information is available at this time.”

Currently, details about the deceased individual have not been disclosed, but Carnival is committed to assisting their family.

Recent incidents on cruise ships have gained attention following the release of a true crime series on Netflix.

The documentary, Amy Bradley is Missing, spans three parts and explores the disappearance of a cruise ship passenger in March 1998, delving into the circumstances surrounding the event.

Amy Bradley, aged 23, disappeared from a cruise ship. The Netflix series features interviews with her family and witnesses present on the ship during her disappearance.

Before vanishing, Amy was last seen dancing at a nightclub, with her disappearance occurring sometime between that evening and the next morning.

The recent incident comes after the passing of 80-year-old Suzanne Rees, who fell ill while hiking on Lizard Island.

The ship’s crew discovered her absence, but when they returned the following day to locate her, she was found deceased.
