Expert uncovers true significance of frightening dream experienced by over half of us

An expert has delved into the meaning behind a dream that over half of us have encountered at some point in our lives.

When it comes to dreaming, there are definitely a wide range of recurring themes.

Perhaps you’ve been chased, found yourself at work or school missing your trousers, or felt paralyzed while danger approaches.

Additionally, there are the more risqué dreams, which may involve celebrities or people we know.

Some dreams, unfortunately, are not pleasant, and recurring dreams can be a reality for some individuals.

There’s a plethora of theories regarding the significance of dreams, or if they even have any significance, but an expert has recently explained what a specific and frequently experienced dream might signify.

So, which dream are we discussing?

This dream is falling.

Whether it’s plummeting off a cliff, dropping from an aircraft, or just having the ground collapse beneath you, falling was reported by approximately 53% of Brits in a recent survey.

The survey, conducted by Netflix, polled around 2,000 people in the UK regarding their most common dreams.

Dream analyst Delphi Ellis provided insight into dreams about falling, suggesting they have a straightforward meaning.

She remarked: “The feeling of falling is a perfect metaphor for the world we’re living in today – like Alice going down the rabbit hole. It happens if we’re not sure where we’re going or where we’ll end up.”

This type of dream can also appear during specific life periods.

“It’s especially common after redundancy, retirement and other major life changes,” Delphi stated. “The adventure awaits, but can be scary as we venture into the unknown.”

Delphi clarified there is a distinction between this and another type of dream: “It’s not to be confused with the ‘jolt’ you might experience just as you’re drifting off though, as this can (ironically) be caused by over-tiredness or point to signs of stress, so a bedtime routine that promotes relaxation is important.”

Falling is not the only type of dream listed in the study.

The second most common dream, previously mentioned, is being unable to run while being chased.

Approximately 42 percent of participants reported this experience, which might represent feeling ‘stuck’ in a particular situation.

After this, the dreams become more direct, with the third most common dream being about a partner’s infidelity, as experienced by about 20 percent of those surveyed.
