John Beam, known from the Netflix series Last Chance U, has been involved in a shooting incident.
On Thursday afternoon, November 13, police were summoned to Laney College in Oakland, California.
According to the Peralta Community College District, and reported by NBC, the 66-year-old was shot by someone from the college’s athletics department and was in critical condition by that evening.
Authorities are requesting the public’s assistance in finding the suspect, who is currently evading capture.
Police described the suspect as last seen wearing dark clothing, though the motive for the incident remains unclear.
In response to what was initially thought to be an active shooter situation, the college went into lockdown.
Later on, the campus was deemed to be secure.
Beam serves as the current athletic director at the college and has dedicated approximately 40 years to coaching football in the region.
