Elon Musk’s X and CloudFlare restored after global outage

Panic spread online as Elon Musk’s platform, X, along with the network service Cloudflare, experienced global outages today (Tuesday, November 18).

Various parts of the internet were affected, including social media platforms such as X, previously known as Twitter, Facebook, and the film review site Letterboxd.

In a twist of irony, even DownDetector was among the sites affected by the outage, leaving users unable to verify if the issue was isolated to their connection or widespread.

The problem seems to stem from issues with Cloudflare, a network and content delivery service. According to its website, Cloudflare “powers internet requests for millions of websites and serves 81 million HTTP requests per second on average.”

The company released a statement saying, “Cloudflare is aware of, and investigating an issue which potentially impacts multiple customers.

“Further detail will be provided as more information becomes available.”

Fortunately, it seems that the websites impacted by this issue are now operational once again. What a relief!

This is an ongoing story, with more updates to come.
