Authorities have had to address speculation about a possible serial killer following a series of homicides in a Florida city.
In Jacksonville, Florida, three women have been found dead over a period of three days.
Cherrish Nunley, 24, was found deceased on Saturday, November 15. She leaves behind a five-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son. Nunley was discovered unresponsive in a parking lot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The next day, the body of Tiffany Felton was located under a bridge on Blanding Boulevard by a fisherman. Her death is being treated as a potential homicide, according to Hoodline.
On Monday, November 17, another woman’s body was found unresponsive in a residence. Her identity has not been disclosed, and the details surrounding her death remain unclear.
The occurrence of three fatalities in such a short time frame has led some to speculate about a serial killer being active in the area.

However, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) has refuted such claims.
In a statement released on Facebook on November 18, they clarified: “JSO is aware of rumors circulating about a serial killer on the loose in Jacksonville. We can confirm these claims are FALSE.
“Our detectives are investigating recent homicide cases that involve female victims, following the facts and evidence in each case. We will share updates as soon as we are able to, but we want to reassure the community there is no danger to the public related these incidents.”
The sheriff’s office also encouraged anyone with information on the three active cases to come forward.
Following Cherrish Nunley’s unexpected death, her sister Justine Donaldson has initiated a GoFundMe page.
On the fundraising platform, Donaldson described her sister as ‘a bright, beautiful girl, a wonderful mom and aunt, the best sister, and a great daughter’.
Donaldson stated that Nunley was ‘shot and killed in a parking lot’.
She further wrote: “Due to it being unexpected, no life insurance or anything, we’re raising the money for her funeral and any ongoing care for her children. We’re asking for anything to help give her a beautiful send-off.
“She was killed in cold blood. She never got into trouble. She was a bright, beautiful girl, a wonderful mom and aunt, the best sister, and a great daughter.
“We will forever remember her, and she will not be another statistic. We will fight for justice. We will fight for her babies. We will fight for her.”
As of now, more than $2,000 has been raised.
