A woman has been sentenced for her involvement in the deaths of three tourists in Mexico who were killed last year.
Australian brothers Jake, 30, and Callum Robinson, 33, along with their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, disappeared during a surfing trip in Baja California, Mexico, in April 2024. Concerns were raised when they failed to appear at their booked accommodation.
Tragically, their bodies were discovered a few days later in a remote area 50 miles south of Ensenada, Mexico. Each of the men had suffered a single gunshot wound to the back of the head.
Investigations later concluded that the incident was the result of a botched robbery attempt.
Baja California state attorney general María Elena Andrade Ramírez previously suggested: “The attackers drove by in their vehicle. They approached, with the intention of stealing their vehicle and taking the tires and other parts to put them on the older-model pickup they were driving.”

Ramírez further explained: “When they [the foreigners] came up and caught them, surely, they resisted. And these people, the assailants, took out a gun and first they killed the one who was putting up resistance against the vehicle theft, and then others came along and joined the fight to defend their property and their companion who had been attacked, and they killed them too.”
Ary Gisell Silva Raya, 23, has now admitted to charges of robbery with violence. Although she is not believed to have directly participated in the killings of the Robinson brothers and Rhoad, it was Silva Raya who allegedly ‘instigated her companions to rob them of their belongings,’ according to ABC News.
After pleading guilty, Silva Raya received a sentence of 20 years in prison.
The three other individuals involved — Jesús Gerardo García Cota, his brother Irineo Francisco García Montaño, and Ángel Jesús León Aguilera — have been charged with murder and are set to face trial next year. They are currently awaiting a hearing date, as reported by NBC San Diego.

In the aftermath of the tragic deaths last year, Jake and Callum’s mother, Debra Robinson, delivered an emotional statement to the press.
“Our hearts are broken and the world has become a darker place for us,” she expressed.
Debra described Callum as ‘a lovable, larger-than-life character,’ and Jake as ‘a happy, gentle and compassionate soul.’
“Please live bigger, shine brighter and love harder in their memory,” she urged.
