Matthew McConaughey shares experience of ‘wet dream’ that led him to his wife

Matthew McConaughey has divulged an intriguing story about a peculiar ‘wet dream’ that he credits as the foundation of his fulfilling family life.

In recent times, McConaughey has been sharing insights into his life, particularly focusing on his relationship with his wife.

The renowned actor has been with Camila Alves, a Brazilian American model and designer, since 2006, and they were married in 2012. Together, they have three children: Levi, who is 17, Vida, 15, and Livingston, 12.

In an interview with People, the 56-year-old recounted the moment he first saw his wife at a club: “She showed up, and she moved right to left in front of my eyes across that club. It was as if she was floating.”

He continued, “And I did not say, ‘Who is that?’ I said, ‘What is that?’ And then introduced myself. Since that evening, I have not wanted to spend time with any other woman.”

Interestingly, this encounter may not have happened if McConaughey hadn’t paid attention to a wet dream he experienced months prior.

In his newsletter, Lyrics of Livin’, he detailed his dating experiences in his 30s.

“In my mid-30s, I was looking for a lifetime lover, a best friend, and a mother-to-be. I was looking for more, I was looking for the one, I was looking for her,” he penned. “Then I had a wet dream.”

The dream depicted him on his 88th birthday, surrounded by 88 children, all born to 22 different women.

He described the women as ‘serene and satisfied,’ with their children being ‘smiling, laughing, and healthy.’

In the dream, they all posed for a family photo on the driveway. “Three! Two! One! Then I came,” McConaughey recounted.

He interpreted this as a ‘spiritual sign’ to stop actively searching for the ideal partner and instead allow the process of natural selection to lead him to her, or not.

“So I quit looking for her,” he said. “Three months later, I met Camila. Twenty years later she’s still the only woman I’ve ever wanted to take on a date, sleep with, or wake up next to.”

This isn’t the only marital advice he’s shared.

Earlier this year, McConaughey discussed the significance of bed size in maintaining a happy marriage.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, he recalled something he mentioned in his book Poems & Prayers: “I wake up one morning … I’m looking over there, and Camila’s like a football field away, man.”

He added: “You’re like, ‘Man, this damn king-size bed is not good for the marriage, man. Get rid of that son of a b****.’”

“We switched to a queen-size, where we’re shoulder to shoulder. I’m telling you, it’s good for your marriage.”

He also explained that this change prevents their children from joining them in bed, maintaining the bedroom as a kid-free sanctuary.
