Morgan Geyser, who was involved in a notorious stabbing case in 2014, fled from confinement by removing her monitoring device.
The incident, which took place in 2014, involved Geyser and Anissa Weier violently attacking their peer Payton Leutner, stabbing her a total of 19 times.
The motivation behind the attack was reportedly to gain favor with Slender Man, a fictional entity created by Eric Knudsen in 2009.
The attack occurred when the two led Leutner into the woods in Waukesha, Wisconsin, intending to carry out their plan.
Despite the severity of her injuries, Leutner remarkably survived, undergoing a six-hour surgery to recover.
Both Geyser and Weier faced adult court charges of first-degree attempted intentional homicide, leading to different judicial outcomes for each.
At 23 years old, Geyser was convicted but deemed not guilty due to mental illness or defect.
She was sentenced to up to 40 years in a mental health facility, although she was released under supervision this past January.
Several months after her release, police report that Geyser severed her tracking device and fled.
The Madison Police Department shared on Facebook (November 23) that: “Officers are searching for a woman who cut off her Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet and left a group home Saturday night.
“Morgan Geyser was last seen in the area of Kroncke Dr. around 8 p.m. with an adult acquaintance. Her whereabouts are unknown as of Sunday morning.
“The Madison Police Department was notified of her disappearance Sunday morning.”
Authorities asked anyone who spotted her to contact 911.
Geyser’s mother also reached out through ABC News with a message for her daughter, stating: “If you see Morgan, please call the police. Morgan, if you can see this, we love you and just want to know you are safe.”
Leutner’s family assured the public of their safety in a statement, expressing their gratitude.

“The family would like to thank all of the law enforcement entities involved in the efforts to apprehend Morgan,” the statement continued. “The Leutner family also wish to thank the outpouring of support from family, friends, and well-wishers who have contacted them during this difficult time.”
Thankfully, Geyser has been found. She was discovered the previous evening at a Thornton’s truck stop with another individual.
It was reported that Geyser and the other person took a bus to Posen, approximately 25 minutes south of Chicago.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that both Geyser and the other individual were taken into custody at around 10:34 p.m.
