Macaulay Culkin has taken the opportunity to remind everyone of his real name, which he officially changed in 2019.
Known for his iconic roles in films such as Home Alone, Uncle Buck, and Richie Rich, Culkin remains a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.
Despite his continued fame, many might not recall Culkin’s full name, as it has been altered for the past six years.
His legal name is now Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin, a fact he highlighted during ‘A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin’ on Saturday (November 22). This event was organized to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the beloved holiday film, Home Alone.
So, what prompted Culkin to adopt such a distinctive name?
In 2018, during an appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s show, Culkin announced his plan to conduct a poll, allowing fans to choose his new middle name.

The amusing options in the poll included: Kieran (in honor of his younger brother), TheMcRibIsBack, Shark Week, Publicity Stunt, or Macaulay Culkin.
He humorously remarked, “Sure, I might have gold-plated watercraft, and chrome plated invisibility cloaks, but all I want for Christmas is a new middle name.”
The chosen name was revealed on Christmas Day that year, and in 2019, he legally became Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin.
The motivation behind the poll was simply for comedic effect and a bit of fun on Fallon’s show.
Reflecting on the experience, Culkin said, “I did it all for that one joke. And a bit on Fallon.”
During the anniversary celebration, another topic of interest was whether Culkin’s children have seen Home Alone. He shared that while they’ve watched it a few times, they still don’t understand that their father played Kevin.

He mentioned that his sons, Dakota, aged four, and Carson, who is three, are big fans of the film.
Culkin has these children with his longtime partner, Disney actress Brenda Song. The couple has been in a relationship for several years and became engaged in 2022, though they have yet to marry.
Explaining the delay, the Running Point actress commented: “We talked about eloping. But I was like, ‘If we eloped, my mom would have a heart attack that she wasn’t going to be there.'”
Culkin has inquired if Song is hesitant about getting married, something he is reportedly ‘fine’ with as long as he knows her stance.
Song also noted that many people are unaware of their relationship. She told Cosmopolitan magazine, “That the public is like, ‘Wait, they’re together and they have kids?’ Good. That means we did our job.”
