Tiffany Haddish shares open update on her dating life after ‘self-marriage’

Tiffany Haddish has shared insights on how her decision to ‘marry’ herself has influenced her dating experiences.

The actress opted for a unique ‘self-marriage’ ceremony, in which she walked down the aisle and made promises to herself.

She previously explained that this act was meant to bolster her self-reliance and confidence, with the hope that it would assist her in establishing boundaries in future relationships.

Haddish has since focused on fulfilling the commitment she made, which includes taking solo trips to honor herself.

In a recent candid update following her self-marriage, Haddish opened up about how this ultimate act of self-love has affected her interactions with potential partners.

So, how has her decision to marry herself impacted her dating life?

According to Haddish, things have been quite positive.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Haddish stated: “Since I married myself, my dating life has been amazing.”

The Girls Trip star elaborated on how her choice has facilitated this change.

She remarked: “First of all, I’m never alone, never alone. And it’s been a lot easier because I have boundaries now. We have limits. And these men have to fall in line with what our requirements are.”

But what are the specific requirements she has set since her self-marriage?

“They gotta have a good credit score because they need to be responsible. When I’m responsible, they need to be responsible,” she explained.

She clarified that this doesn’t necessarily imply someone must be wealthier than her, just that they should maintain a good credit score.

“I don’t need you to have more than me, it’s okay if you have less than, but you better have that credit score right,” she added. “That’s your grown-up report card.”

Haddish is planning a solo trip for Thanksgiving as part of her commitment to herself.

“My plan this year [for Thanksgiving] is to go to the Bahamas,” Haddish shared.

“Normally, I serve the homeless, and I’m making collard greens and mashed potatoes and all kinds of stuff. But not this year. This year, I’m taking me. I’m married, so we are going out on a little trip. A little married trip. A solo married trip.”

The idea of marrying herself came to Haddish in 2018 during an unsatisfying relationship.

“I was like, ‘I’ll be my husband. I could take care of me better than you could,'” she revealed to USA Today.
