A star from Celebrity Traitors has shared her decision to amputate her second leg after claiming that using crutches had caused further damage to her body.
Ruth Codd, recognized for her roles in The Midnight Club, The Fall Of House Of Usher, and Irish Blood, underwent her first leg amputation a decade after sustaining an injury at 15 while playing soccer in the UK.
The injury led to nerve damage in her leg, and despite undergoing several surgeries to alleviate the pain, none were successful.
As a result, Codd’s leg was amputated below the knee, and she has now opted to amputate her other leg as well.
The 29-year-old shared her journey in a TikTok video for her fans, where she mentioned there would be both ‘good’ and ‘bad’ news.

She announced: “The good news is that we’ve had a full circle moment and I’m back making TikTok content in my parents’ house.”
While this ‘full circle’ moment signified her return to engaging with fans on a public platform, there was another reason for her update.
She continued: “The bad news is that I can’t do it in front of that lovely, floral blue wallpaper anymore due to the fact that that room is upstairs and I’ve just had my second below knee amputation.”
Codd elaborated that ‘those facilities are not available to’ her at the moment.
On Instagram, she further explained why a second amputation was necessary.
The actress detailed that she had been standing on her tiptoes while using crutches over the eight years since her previous surgery.
“It’s just that this foot, I was on crutches for the bones of eight years and the way I used my crutches I was always kind of on my tippy toes,” Ruth said.
She shared that this had ‘destroyed’ her joints, and medical professionals were unable to fix the damage.
“I’ve already had to have all my toes amputated, and so I have no toes and so my foot looks like a little hamburger,” she described.
Codd has consistently been open about her amputation journey, which initially brought her recognition on TikTok due to her candid discussions.
In 2022, she was cast in The Midnight Club, and also appeared in the eagerly awaited How To Train Your Dragon live-action movie, released this year.
Despite her recent health challenges, she continues to entertain viewers, introducing her new wheelchair, Fat Tony, with her usual humor.
