Staggering Sum Mariah Carey Earns Hourly from Her Christmas Hit

Discover the staggering earnings Mariah Carey generates every hour from her holiday anthem ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’.

As December begins, the holiday season officially kicks off now that Thanksgiving is over. Many people will either have already decorated for Christmas or will be doing so soon, often with festive music playing in the background.

If you’re curating a Christmas playlist, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ is sure to be included.

Remarkably, the iconic song was created by Carey and her songwriting partner Walter Afanasieff in just 15 minutes, and it has been a staple of the holiday season since its release in 1995.

Although Carey and her team have never publicly stated her annual earnings from the Christmas hit, investigations by researchers and journalists have yielded astonishing figures.

The New York Post reports that the song earns the singer about $3 million each year, and as of 2021, this has accumulated to more than $60 million since the song’s debut.

To illustrate further, Carey earns approximately $316 per hour from this song alone, which is impressive given the song’s seasonal playtime each year.

In addition to her annual holiday performances, Carey eagerly anticipates the Christmas season, preparing months in advance for the festivities.

“We go to Aspen, which is my favourite place to celebrate Christmas because it’s always snowy and it’s one of the best places ever,” she previously shared, according to the Sun.

“We do all sorts of things. We go on a sleigh ride with the kids and my extended family, I cook, Santa Claus comes over. I know it sounds like I’m making it up but it’s true — I know him personally, he’s my dude. We have live reindeer. It’s an extravaganza.”

The triumph of ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ surpassed Carey’s expectations, as she told Billboard she had ‘no idea’ the song would achieve such global acclaim.

“How could I? It was so early on in my career and most young artists, at that time, weren’t really making Christmas music at the onset of their careers,” she explained.
