Scott Shriner’s Wife Files for Divorce Following Police Shooting Incident and Attempted Murder Charges

Reports indicate that Jillian Lauren-Shriner has initiated divorce proceedings from Scott Shriner.

Shriner, known for being the bassist in the rock band Weezer, has been married to Lauren-Shriner since 2005. The couple exchanged vows in Hawaii and have two sons, Jovanni Starshine, 13, and Tariku Moon, 17.

Lauren-Shriner reportedly cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for their marital separation.

“Irreconcilable differences is essentially no fault divorce and allows one spouse to file for divorce without alleging grounds or fault. This is the widely used term to file for divorce,” Evan Schein of New York-based family law firm Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein previously explained about the commonly-used reason.

As reported by People, Lauren-Shriner is seeking spousal support while also requesting that the court revoke Shriner’s eligibility for spousal support.

Additionally, she is requesting that the Weezer musician cover her legal expenses and wants to remove ‘Shriner’ from her last name.

This legal filing follows an incident eight months prior where Lauren-Shriner had a confrontation with police, resulting in her being shot in the shoulder.

On April 8, officers arrived in the Los Angeles area of Eagle Rock, where Lauren-Shriner resides, after receiving reports of a nearby hit-and-run incident.

Lauren-Shriner was not involved in the hit-and-run but reportedly emerged from her home holding a weapon and allegedly did not comply with police orders to drop it.

It’s reported that she fired at an officer, leading to return fire from law enforcement, which resulted in her shoulder injury and subsequent hospitalization.

Following the incident, she was charged with attempted murder and later released from custody on a $1 million bond.

She entered a not guilty plea in May, and in September, a judge granted her a mental health diversion, which allowed her to avoid jail time for the episode, as reported by NME.

Shortly before the encounter with law enforcement, Lauren-Shriner had undergone surgery following a cancer diagnosis.

In March, she reportedly underwent two consecutive surgeries, including a full hysterectomy, according to The Independent.

In a hospital photo shared on Instagram, Lauren-Shriner wrote: “I have a little bit of the C word y’all. I know a lot of us do. I’m here to thank the incredible oncology team here, who pulled me through a complicated operation without a hitch.

“I am always so grateful for every second of the compassionate, and excellent medical care I receive in my life. Thank you to all the remarkable health care workers, who take our lives in your hands. And let’s all breathe.”

Representatives for Lauren-Shriner have been contacted for comment.
