Taylor Swift Reveals Relatable Post-Show Rituals While Advising Stephen Colbert on Show Cancellations

Taylor Swift has shared her go-to routine for unwinding after a concert, and it’s something many can relate to.

The singer, soon to turn 36, gave fans a peek into her after-show habits during her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night.

Making a grand entrance in a striking burgundy velvet dress by David Koma, valued at $1,695, the conversation quickly turned to her impressive Era’s tour and what she does post-performance.

“Every night, I’ll go back to the hotel, get out of the costume, into the bath immediately. It’s mermaid time. And then I get the most amount of room service possible, anything that I happen to want that night. And I’ll just be like ‘I’ve got to power up for the three and a half hour show’ – it’s the best!” she explained.

After indulging in room service, Taylor mentioned another activity that helps her stay grounded and focused.

“So then I sign like 2000 CD’s, because me doing activity that’s like tactile hand activity – it’s like when I do bread stuff!,” she joked, alluding to her love for making sourdough.

“I’ll sign CD’s because when I’m doing something with my hands, my kind of profession is coming up with ideas for stuff. So if I can turn off the ideas for a second, it’s very exciting.”

As their discussion moved to the Era’s tour and its grand finale last year, Colbert asked Taylor for any advice on wrapping up his show, which will end in May due to CBS’s cancellation.

“To come down from a two-year tour like that, I’m sure there’s a little bit of transition,” Colbert said. “Any advice for me?”

“For this specific situation, no…,” Taylor began, “but I can sort of see from afar that we’re both very passionate, hyperactive people—let’s not say workaholics—so when I take time off, I can’t slow down that need to get up and do a lot of things today. But I can change what those things are.

“I can figure out how to chill out, but I’m never going to be a chill person,” she elaborated. “I’m a ‘bread girl’ now, or I’m like, ‘This isn’t going to cross-stitch itself!’ Hobbies are kind of incredible.”

On the topic of the show’s cancellation, Taylor added: “You give everything to this, you love to do a million things to prepare for this, and you give everything to the people that watch. You can give that to your friends and family, your community—.”

Swift joined the show to promote her forthcoming documentary series, which is soon to be available to fans.

The eagerly awaited Disney+ series, The End of an Era, will release its first two episodes on Friday, December 12, with two more episodes following each week until year-end.

Consisting of six episodes, the series offers an exploration of ‘the development, impact, and inner-workings that created the phenomenon that was The Eras Tour,’ as detailed in a press release.

It also offers fans an ‘intimate look at Taylor’s life as her tour made headlines and thrilled fans around the world.’

Additionally, Friday will feature the debut of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Final Show – a concert film capturing the grand finale of her extensive two-year-long tour.

This collaboration with Disney+ comes shortly after the ‘Ophelia’ singer revealed her newest album, The Life of A Showgirl, slated for release on October 3.
