Glenn Close, 78, shares her detailed plan for end-of-life arrangements already in progress

Glenn Close has shared details about the intricate plans she has arranged for her later years and eventual passing.

The 78-year-old actor, recently seen in the newest Knives Out detective series on Netflix, discussed her surprising end-of-life plans during an appearance on the Wiser Than Me podcast with Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Though contemplating the end of life is a topic many avoid, some people have clear ideas about their final wishes.

Options range from traditional cremation or burial to more unique choices, such as transforming into a diamond or using eco-friendly coffins made from fungus.

Close, however, has very specific plans regarding her final living arrangements rather than just posthumous preferences.

She reminisced about a stone cottage on her grandparents’ farm, filled with cherished memories from her youth.

“They had this wonderful stone cottage on their farm, on their property that I think originally had been a slaughterhouse,” she noted.

“But it was made into this really cozy cottage. And that was my first memory, in that little cottage.”

Describing the quaint structure, she said: “Stone, it had ivy on the front. It had literally a white picket fence around it, in the middle of a hay field and woods.”

Close expressed her intent to recreate such a stone cottage near her current home because that setting was the source of her most joyous and inspirational years.

This new cottage will feature two bedrooms—one for herself and another for a live-in caregiver to assist her as she ages.

“And that’s where I’m gonna die. Happily,” she stated.

Despite orchestrating her future plans, Close, at 78, feels much younger than her actual age.

She remarked: “Oh God, I feel probably around in my 20s. Maybe early 30s.”

Close often finds herself in disbelief about her age, feeling it doesn’t match her internal youthfulness.

“When I think of how old I actually am, it just amazes me,” she confessed. “So I don’t think about it much.

“Cause I don’t think I fit into whatever people expect you to be like when you’re 78 years old.”
