Grimes has accused her former partner, Elon Musk, of making a ‘silly’ move amidst their co-parenting efforts.
The relationship between the avant-garde pop musician and the billionaire tech entrepreneur began to flourish around 2018.
Throughout their four-year relationship, Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, and Musk welcomed three children: a son named X Æ A-Xii in 2020, a daughter named Exa Dark Sideræl in 2021 through a surrogate, and another son named Techno Mechanicus, born in 2022.
Shortly thereafter, the couple announced their separation and became embroiled in a complex custody battle, with legal proceedings in both Texas and California.
The 37-year-old musician, known for the hit ‘Genesis,’ alleged that the Tesla CEO was preventing her from seeing their youngest son. Their disagreement was resolved last summer, with Grimes disclosing that they now have 50/50 custody of their children.

Recently, the Canadian artist has accused Musk of engaging in peculiar activities on X, the social media platform he owns, formerly known as Twitter.
After a user noticed that Grimes no longer follows Musk on the platform, she explained that it was because he ‘blocked’ her.
“For context I’m just living my life,” she said in a post on Thursday (December 11). “He followed me then blocked me. I’m not gna be following and unfollowing. My only priority is co parenting, I am not interested in public dramatics.”
She added: “This is so silly lol.”
Her comments provide insight as the couple continues to navigate the complexities of co-parenting.
In 2023, Grimes filed a petition seeking parental rights for all three of her children, according to online records reviewed by PEOPLE.
The following year, in November 2024, she announced that she had delayed producing or releasing new music due to the ongoing custody issues.

She expressed her struggles on X, writing, “Spent a year locked in battle in a state with terrible mothers rights having my instagram posts and modeling used as reasons I shouldn’t have my kids and fighting and detaching from the love if my life as he comes unrecognizable to me, with a fraction of his resources (or iq/strategy experience).”
Grimes continued, “All the while I didn’t see one of my babies for 5 months. And this is only what can be said publicly, since most of my experience these last years should remain behind closed doors.”
In January of this year, Grimes faced backlash after Musk was accused of performing a Nazi salute at the Capitol One Arena in Washington.
She stated in part: “I am not him. I will not make a statement every time he does something. I can only send love back into a world that is hurting.
“I choose my children’s wellbeing. I promise you it doesn’t feel good to be hated all the time for things I don’t even know about, cannot predict and cannot control.
“But I also chose this path, I accept it. I make the best of it, and I simply wish happiness and health to all.”
She later clarified her stance, writing: “If it wasn’t clear – ****I very much denounce Nazi-ism and white supremacy*****.”
In February, Grimes criticized the SpaceX CEO for taking their eldest son, then four years old, to the Oval Office as Musk led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) during the Trump administration.
She commented on X, “He should not be in public like this,” and later told TIME, “Fame is something you should consent to,” urging people to ‘stop posting images of my kid everywhere.’
