The Los Angeles Police Department has provided new information regarding the investigation into Rob Reiner’s death.
The news of Rob’s passing has deeply impacted Hollywood, with many tributes pouring in following his unexpected demise. The well-respected actor and director passed away alongside his wife, Michele.
Authorities were called to their Los Angeles residence on Sunday (December 14), where they discovered two deceased individuals. These individuals were later confirmed to be Rob, known for directing When Harry Met Sally…, and his wife of 36 years, Michele.
The couple had three children, and their youngest, Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested after their deaths.
Initially, it was reported that a family member was being questioned, which was later clarified when Nick was taken into custody.

There was initially some uncertainty regarding the charges he faced, but the LAPD has now confirmed that Nick is a suspect in the case and has been ‘booked for murder’.
LAPD Chief of Police Jim McDonnell addressed the matter at a press conference today, stating: “The information at this stage is still limited but we’ll share what we can.”
“First of all, our hearts go out to the family and friends of the Reiners. A tragic incident,” he expressed.
“Yesterday, December 14, at about 3:40 in the afternoon, LAPD responded to the residence of Rob and Michele Reiner located in the West Los Angeles division.”
“At that location, they found two deceased adults, a male and a female. Through the night, working with the coroner’s office, they were able to identify them definitively as Rob and Michele Reiner.”
McDonnell further confirmed that Nick Reiner, who has a history of drug addiction issues, was taken into custody and is a suspect in the deaths of his parents.
“[Nick] was subsequently booked for murder and is being held on $4 million bail,” he continued. “Pretty much that’s what I can share at this point, but again, a very, very tragic incident.”
In response to questions about a search warrant carried out at the Reiners’ residence, McDonnell stated he couldn’t confirm ‘what the object of search warrant was’ but described the search as ‘critical’ to their investigation.

Numerous individuals have publicly paid their respects to Rob and Michele following the ‘apparent homicide’, including Jamie Lee Curtis, who described the couple as ‘great friends’ to her and her husband, Christopher Guest.
“Christopher and I are numb and sad and shocked about the violent, tragic deaths of our dear friends Rob and Michele Singer Reiner, and our ONLY focus and care right now is for their children and immediate families, and we will offer all support possible to help them,” shared The Bear actress.
Curtis added: “We have lost great friends. Please give us time to grieve.”
