Donald Trump sues BBC for $10 billion over ‘deceptive’ speech edit, introducing bold new allegation

Donald Trump has recently made headlines with his latest assertion following the announcement of a lawsuit against the BBC for allegedly altering a speech he delivered.

In November, the former U.S. president declared his intention to take legal action against the British Broadcasting Corporation after discovering they had modified footage of a speech he delivered prior to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots.

The edited footage has been criticized as ‘misleading,’ with Trump’s lawyer Alejandro Brito labeling it ‘false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory.’ This altered clip appeared in the documentary Trump: A Second Chance?, and it seemed to depict Trump as if he were inciting his supporters to attack the Capitol by rearranging segments of his remarks.

In the broadcasted segment, Trump stated: “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol… and I’ll be there with you. And we fight. We fight like hell.”

However, the complete quote from the Republican president was: “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women.”

Trump initiated his lawsuit on Monday in a federal court in Miami, seeking ‘damages in an amount not less than $5,000,000,000′ for two counts against the UK broadcaster, citing alleged defamation and violation of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.

Additionally, during a speech at the White House, Trump claimed that the BBC employed AI to make it appear as though he said things he never did.

At the White House on Monday, Trump addressed the lawsuit, stating: “In a little while you’ll be seeing that I am suing the BBC for putting words in my mouth, literally.

“They put words in my mouth, they had me saying things that I never said coming out, I guess they used AI or something.

“We will be bringing that lawsuit, a lot of people have been asking when are you bringing that lawsuit.

“Even the media can’t believe that one, they actually put terrible words in my mouth having to do with January 6, that I didn’t say.

“And the beautiful words that I said, right, the beautiful words, talking about patriotism and all of the good things that I said, they didn’t say that.

“But they put terrible words. They actually had me speaking with words that I never said and they got caught.

“Because I believe someone at the BBC said this is so bad it has to be reported, that is called fake news, so we will be filing that suit probably this afternoon or tomorrow morning.”
