Greg Biffle’s last social media update before the tragic accident that claimed his life and that of his family, revealed the thoughtful ‘date night’ he orchestrated for his wife.
The NASCAR icon, aged 55, along with his wife Christina and their two children, were sadly reported deceased on Thursday following a plane crash near a North Carolina airport.
Their Cessna C550 private aircraft was set for Sarasota, Florida, having departed from Statesville Regional Airport, located approximately an hour from Charlotte, North Carolina, as indicated by FlightAware data.
Mid-flight, there was an unexpected turn of events as the plane had to change course and attempt a return landing.
The aircraft crashed around 10:15 am, immediately igniting upon impact.
Amidst the sorrowful conclusion of his life, Biffle’s last social media entry was filled with happiness, as he published a YouTube video titled ‘Surprised Wife with Date Night to the PRI Show’ on December 11.
In this video, Biffle took his wife by surprise with a trip to Indianapolis, pretending it was a typical ‘date night’, only to reveal they were attending the 2025 Performance Racing Industry Show.
The video starts with Biffle beaming as he escorts Christina through the airport, hinting at a ‘little surprise’ he had for her.
The surprise unfolds in the video, documenting their experience at the convention, and concludes with a romantic dinner to wrap up their ‘date night’.
The video’s description states: ‘We had fun seeing all the different vendors and chatting with old friends!’.

What might have seemed simple was rendered more touching by the couple’s untimely death, leading many fans to flood the comments with messages of sympathy.
Biffle and Christina Grossu were wed in January 2023 and were parents to a son, Ryder Jack, born in September 2020.
Biffle was also a devoted father to Emma Elizabeth, his daughter from his first marriage to Nicole, born in October 2007.
Tragically, both children were victims of the Thursday crash.
The Federal Aviation Authority has initiated an investigation into what caused the crash.
The Statesville Regional Airport released a statement acknowledging the crash: “We can confirm there has been an aircraft incident at the Statesville Regional Airport. At approximately 10:15 a.m., an aircraft crashed while landing. The Federal Aviation Administration is en route and will investigate the incident.”
