Wife of The Wire and IT: Chapter Two actor James Ransone shares thoughts following his tragic passing at 46

Following the news of actor James Ransone’s passing, tributes have flooded in, and his grieving wife has shared an emotional message to her late husband.

At 46, Ransone was well-regarded for his role in 12 episodes of the renowned TV series The Wire, where he portrayed Ziggy Sobotka. He also gained recognition for his recent performance in the Stephen King adaptation, It: Chapter Two.

On Friday, December 19, authorities responded to a call at his Los Angeles, California residence around 2 pm, where he was discovered deceased from an apparent suicide. Preliminary investigations found no signs of foul play, and the Los Angeles Medical Examiner is now looking into the incident.

Jamie McPhee, his wife, paid tribute to Ransone by sharing a photo of the couple, in which Ransone is seen with his hand on her pregnant belly, as the news of his death emerged.

In her heartfelt message, McPhee, who shared two children, Violet and Jack, with Ransone, expressed: “I told you I have loved you 1000 times before and I know I will love you again. You told me – I need to be more like you and you need to be more like me – and you were so right.”

She added: “Thank you for giving me the greatest gifts – you, Jack and Violet. We are forever.”

Colleagues from the film and television industry who were close to Ransone have also expressed their sorrow over his unexpected death. David Simon, the creator of both The Wire and the acclaimed war drama Generation Kill, which also featured Ransone, posted a picture of the actor, finding himself at a loss for words.

More details to be provided as they emerge.
