Speculations Arise Over Potential Trump 2028 Candidacy and Its Consequences

Speculation is rampant about the potential consequences if Donald Trump attempts a presidential run in 2028, and it doesn’t paint a rosy picture.

Nearly a year has passed since Trump resumed his role as President of the United States in a second term, leaving three more years of his leadership.

Nevertheless, Americans are reportedly already contemplating the 2028 presidential election, as indicated by a recent CNN-SSRS poll conducted earlier this month.

While two-thirds of respondents did not have a specific candidate in mind for the presidency, a notable portion of Republicans (11 per cent) expressed interest in Vice President JD Vance making a run, with 2 per cent showing support for Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Only one per cent selected Trump, who is actually barred from running again by the 22nd Amendment.

Despite this, some individuals are sharing their predictions about Trump’s potential candidacy, with Trump himself hinting at the possibility by offering $50 ‘Trump 2028’ hats.

On X (formerly Twitter), a user shared his prediction following a recent poll that suggested Vance is ‘the clear favorite’ to secure victory.

“My prediction of how this goes: Trump will want to run for a third term, nobody in the Republican Party supports him, they want JD Vance to run,” wrote reporter Thomas van Linge.

“Trump doesn’t listen at first but eventually has no choice but not to run,” he continued.

His prediction added: “Trump becomes bitter and won’t endorse Vance, in fact might actually tell people not to vote for him.”

Consequently, “Vance loses miserably.”

This prediction has sparked considerable discussion on social media, with some users agreeing with the scenario.

“As a Republican I think this is probably spot on, except I think Vance will win anyway,” one person commented.

“I don’t know who you are or what you’re doing in my timeline, but I like the way you think!” another user echoed.

A third added: “Bookmark this tweet, I reckon it’ll be prophetic.”

Earlier this month, Trump acknowledged having a ‘little more than three years left’ in his term after sharing a ‘Trump 2028’ sign.

The 22nd Amendment restricts any individual from serving more than two terms as US president.

Despite being aware of his limited time in the Oval Office, Trump has frequently entertained the idea of pursuing a third term.

When asked by a reporter about the possibility of challenging this restriction in court, the President responded: “I haven’t really thought about it.

“We have some very good people as you know, but I have the best poll numbers I’ve ever had,” he stated.

He referred to ‘good people’ as Vance and Rubio but added: “I’m not sure if anybody would run again. I think if they ever formed a group, it would be unstoppable, I do. I really believe that.

“I would love to do it. I have my best numbers ever,” Trump claimed.

He suggested he “would be allowed” to bypass the 22nd Amendment, potentially by returning as Vice President and having the elected President resign, allowing him to step into the presidency.

However, this idea faces its own hurdle due to the 12th Amendment, which states: “No person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.”

Nonetheless, Trump remarked that even if it were possible, he wouldn’t pursue it.

“I would rule that out because it’s too cute. I think the people wouldn’t like that. It’s too cute. It wouldn’t be right,” he expressed.
