Nicki Minaj appears to have deleted her Instagram account amid mounting criticism on social media.
The rapper, known for her global fan base, has recently found herself under scrutiny due to some controversial actions.
Minaj made a surprise appearance at the Turning Point USA event in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 21, sharing the stage with Erika Kirk.
The backlash was immediate after Minaj seemed to misspeak while suggesting there were numerous conservative role models for young men to admire.
During her speech, Minaj mentioned JD Vance among these role models and positively referred to him as an ‘assassin.’
While her remarks might have been unremarkable in other contexts, they were particularly awkward given that Erika Kirk’s husband, Charlie Kirk, was tragically assassinated at a Turning Point event in September.
Minaj stated: “Dear young men, you have amazing role models, like our handsome dashing president. And you have amazing role models like the assassin, JD Vance, our vice president – and when I say that…”
Upon realizing her mistake, she covered her mouth, but Erika Kirk reassured her, suggesting that sometimes laughter is the best response.
Minaj’s participation in conservative events and her support for conservative figures, coupled with public disagreements with fellow artists, have sparked a social media backlash. Reports claim she’s lost nearly 10 million Instagram followers, though these numbers have not been independently confirmed.
It seems the rapper may have taken the step of deleting her Instagram account altogether. While some fans note that Minaj often deactivates her account, it appears she might have reactivated it for the event and then proceeded to delete it entirely.
On Instagram, some users have expressed their satisfaction with this development, questioning Minaj’s expectations.

One comment read: “This really hasn’t been her year AT ALL.. GOOD!”
Another user added: “Good riddance now we gotta do the same to her twitter.”
A third remarked: “Never followed her but this brings me joy!”
Despite this, some argue that Minaj’s career will remain unaffected by the Instagram deletion.
One fan commented: “Yesterday, She had more streams than cardi and Megan combined. I think she’ll be ok losing some lefty fans.”
Another simply noted: “She don’t care! She rich …”
