During the holiday season, we all relish the opportunity to purchase gifts for our loved ones, as it is always a joy to surprise someone special.
However, for Kim Kardashian, finding a gift for her nearest and dearest might be a bit challenging, given that there’s little they probably don’t already possess.
This conundrum could potentially explain the reasoning behind Kim’s selection of Christmas presents for her four children this year, which has sparked significant criticism on social media. Though, for the reality TV star, receiving such backlash isn’t exactly a new experience.
The 45-year-old disclosed that her children North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, seven, and Psalm, six, each received a puppy for Christmas, as she shared on social media.
“Each kid got a puppy,” Kim, who co-parents her four children with ex-husband Kanye West, wrote, accompanied by videos of the Pomeranian puppies playfully exploring their new mansion.
She also posted close-up images of each pup, including one adorned with a red bow tie.
Kim’s choice of gifts for her children did not sit well with many fans, and it quickly became a topic of discussion on online platforms like Reddit.
“They treat animals like monopoly. Like yeah they’re really cute but,” commented one user. Another added: “They are running out of things to buy since they have and get anything they want year round.”
Concerns were also raised about the welfare of the dogs, with one individual commenting: “Poor dogs. I hate how they treat animals as accessories or toys.”
Despite the criticism, some fans defended Kim. They pointed out that the Kardashian-West children have been raised around dogs, and Kim herself had pets when she was young.
In a previous interview with K9 Magazine, the mother of four reminisced about her childhood with Dobermans, her father Robert’s preferred breed. She mentioned: “We’ve always had dogs. I think dogs are great to be around and such a valuable part of the family.”
Kim wasn’t the only member of the Kardashian family feeling especially generous this holiday season. Her older sister Kourtney went all out for her stepdaughter Alabama Barker, who celebrated her 20th birthday on Christmas Eve.
To commemorate Alabama’s milestone birthday, Kourtney gifted her a $20,000 (£14,800) pink Birkin bag, while her father, Travis Barker, presented her with a $38,000 (£28,000) diamond Cartier Love bracelet.
The Kardashian family also hosted their traditional spectacular Christmas Eve celebration this year, which, as expected, was lavish and opulent.
