Chappell Roan recently removed her tribute to Brigitte Bardot following the announcement of Bardot’s passing at the age of 91.
The Brigitte Bardot Foundation released a statement earlier this week confirming the actress’s death.
According to BBC News, the statement said: “The Brigitte Bardot Foundation announces with immense sadness the death of its founder and president, Madame Brigitte Bardot, a world-renowned actress and singer, who chose to abandon her prestigious career to dedicate her life and energy to animal welfare and her foundation.”
While the exact timing of Bardot’s death is still uncertain, it is believed she passed away at her home in southern France.

In response to the announcement, various celebrities paid their respects, including Roan, who posted on social media: “Rest in peace Ms. Bardot. She was my inspiration for red wine supernova.”
Roan’s song includes the lyrics: “She was a playboy, Brigitte Bardot/ She showed me things I didn’t know/ She did it right there out on the deck/ Put her canine teeth in the side of my neck.”
However, Roan returned to social media just 24 hours later to express her shock upon learning about Bardot’s controversial political views.
“I did not know all that insane s**t Ms. Bardot stood for obvs I do not condone this. very disappointing to learn,” she confessed.

Despite her successful acting career and her work as an animal rights activist, Bardot was known for her controversial far-right opinions.
She faced five convictions in France for inciting racial hatred and in her 2003 book, Un Cri dans le Silence, she derogatorily referred to the LGBTQ+ community as ‘fairground freaks’.
Bardot also criticized the #MeToo movement, describing many claims as ‘ridiculous’.
“Many actresses flirt with producers to get a role,” she mentioned to Paris Match.
“Then when they tell the story afterwards, they say they have been harassed…in actual fact, rather than benefit them, it only harms them.
“I thought it was nice to be told that I was beautiful or that I had a pretty little a**.
“This kind of compliment is nice.”

The announcement of Bardot’s passing came just weeks after her representatives had to refute rumors about her being hospitalized due to a ‘serious illness’.
Addressing the rumors about her health, her foundation stated, according to The Independent: “In response to the spread of false information in recent days, Ms Brigitte Bardot would like to remind everyone that she is currently recovering, that she would appreciate it if people would respect her privacy, and invites everyone to calm down.”
The statement added: “Ms Bardot wishes to reassure those who are genuinely concerned about her. She sends them this message: ‘I send my love to you all.'”
