Former boyfriend of Texas teen missing since Christmas Eve shares his thoughts

The former boyfriend of a teenager who went missing on Christmas Eve has shared his thoughts on the situation.

Camila Mendoza Olmos was last observed leaving her residence in Bexar County, San Antonio, Texas, shortly before 7 am on Wednesday, December 24.

Authorities report that the 19-year-old was dressed in pajamas, specifically baby blue bottoms, a baby blue and black hoodie, and white shoes when she left her home.

It is suspected that she only took her car keys and driver’s license with her, leaving her car in the family’s driveway. Police have expressed concern, suggesting that Olmos might be in ‘imminent danger.’

Recently, her former boyfriend has expressed his feelings about the distress since her disappearance.

Nathan Gonzales, who had a recent breakup with Olmos, has committed to continuing the search for her as he participated in the search efforts on Saturday.

“I’ll be here all day… We’ve been here for three days, going on four days straight, and we’re not going to stop until we find her,” he stated.

He described his ex-girlfriend as a ‘very loving person.’

“She’s a very loving person. She’s the person that always puts others before herself, and she loves everybody no matter what, and you know, this is just not like her because like I said, she’s just a loving person and would’ve never thought that something like this would happen.”

Gonzales also mentioned that the family is experiencing a ‘nightmare’ due to her sudden disappearance.

“So that’s why we’re all out here to support her family and be there for them, because not only do they need us right now. But they need the Lord Jesus to be with her and protect Cami because we know with the Lord that she’s gonna come back home,” he concluded.

His participation comes as Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar noted that the young woman had recently ended a romantic relationship, but the separation was amicable. The authorities do not suspect any ‘nefarious’ involvement.

Surveillance footage from a neighbor captured the moment Olmos appeared to leave her home at 6:58 am that morning.

The CCTV video shows her seemingly searching for something in her vehicle.

Following her disappearance, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office released a statement: “Camila’s mother stated that Camila normally goes for a morning walk; however, she became concerned when Camila did not return within a reasonable period of time.

“Video footage from that time shows an unknown individual, believed to be Camila, searching inside her vehicle for an unidentified item. Moments later, the footage ends. It is believed that she left the residence on foot, as her vehicle remained at the location.”

According to ABC News, the sheriff noted: “We definitely don’t want to miss anything. The ground search is somewhat limited to a couple of square miles. We’re also not ruling out that this case may take us outside the borders of the continental United States.”

He further mentioned that several agencies are now involved in the search, including the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, which are monitoring border crossings and international travel.

Officials have confirmed that Olmos has not been detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) since her disappearance.

“That was a personal concern. So, I had it checked to make sure that there were no stops, no detentions, and that she’s not somewhere in a federal detention facility. That is something we needed to check,” Salazar added.

Individuals with any information concerning Olmos’ location are urged to contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office at (210)335-6000 or email the BCSO Missing Persons Unit at [email protected].
