Understanding the symptoms of acute myeloid leukemia following the passing of Tatiana Schlossberg at 35.
Tatiana Schlossberg, known as the granddaughter of former President John F. Kennedy and a prominent environmental journalist, has died shortly after making her terminal cancer diagnosis public.
The JFK Library Foundation confirmed the news of her passing on Tuesday (December 30) through a statement on Instagram.
“Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning,” the post stated. “She will always be in our hearts.”
The announcement was signed by Schlossberg’s close family, including her husband George Moran, their children Edwin and Josephine, along with her parents and siblings.
In an essay for The New Yorker last month, Schlossberg shared her experience with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), revealing she was diagnosed with the condition after the birth of her second child.

Despite undergoing two rounds of chemotherapy, having two stem cell transplants, and participating in various clinical trials, the disease ultimately claimed her life.

According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 20,000 new cases of AML are identified in the U.S. annually.

The Cleveland Clinic outlines several signs of acute myeloid leukemia to be vigilant of.
Initially, the disease may present symptoms similar to a persistent cold or flu that doesn’t subside.
As the illness advances rapidly, symptoms typically worsen swiftly.
