During a recent podcast appearance, Cher made a playful jab at Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell’s marriage.
The 79-year-old icon didn’t hesitate to share her candid thoughts with the 51-year-old host on his podcast, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, leaving him in an interesting position.
On the episode that aired on January 5, the ‘Believe’ singer developed a great connection with 45-year-old Bell. Cher even jokingly questioned what Bell sees in Shepard despite their 12-year marriage and parenting two children together.
While discussing Cher’s new book, Cher: The Memoir, Part 1, they delved into how she has coped with the traumatic experiences in her life.
Shepard praised Cher, saying: “There’s a pressure on people to have dealt with their own trauma in a very accepted way – and I like when people don’t deal with their trauma that way, like mine was active like yours was. There was violence, there was addiction. Couldn’t be more grateful, ultimately I’m in this house with this woman and these two kids – f***ing, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Cher then made her first playful jab at the host.
“You’re lucky, she’s definitely the better half,” she remarked about Bell.
As the conversation about trauma wrapped up, Shepard, not wanting to let the comment slide, brought it up again in a humorous manner.
He asked: “Who would you like to see Kristen with? If you got to pick from every available bachelor – oh, they don’t even have to be available, they can be some taken ones if you want. Who would be your dream partner for her? Because I know you think she could do better, and I don’t disagree. Who would be your pick?”
Cher responded that she wasn’t sure, prompting the Idiocracy actor to suggest: “Brad Pitt maybe?”
An hour into the podcast, Shepard acknowledged that Cher still isn’t convinced about him.
Cher then candidly stated, “No, but the truth is I trust her,” she said. “So, you must have something that I don’t see.”
The remark left Bell momentarily stunned with her hand over her mouth, as the room filled with laughter.
Co-host Monica Padman chimed in: “But Reese Witherspoon said that, too – She said there’s something about women like a smart, strong, awesome, funny woman. If they’re with a man, you’re like, there must be something to that man!”
Bell added: “There is! There’s a lot to this man.”
Dax, even if Cher can’t fully see your value, many others certainly do!
