Public Shocked to Discover Major Inmates Nicolás Maduro is Sharing a Prison With

Social media users are in disbelief after learning about the company Nicolás Maduro might be keeping while in prison.

The former Venezuelan president is currently housed at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, a facility known for holding several notable criminals.

Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were apprehended in Caracas, Venezuela, and flown to the United States on Friday night (January 2).

He faces multiple charges, including Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, and Possession and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States.

Maduro has pleaded not guilty, telling the court through a Spanish interpreter, “I am not guilty. I am a decent man. I am still the president of my country.”

If found guilty, he could be sentenced to the death penalty.

Cilia Flores also faces charges of cocaine importation conspiracy and possession and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices. She, too, denies any wrongdoing.

Interestingly, the couple is not alone in the MDC when it comes to well-known personalities.

The detention center also houses some other famous individuals, such as the controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine.

Daniel Hernandez, widely known as Tekashi 6ix9ine, began a three-month stint at the facility on Tuesday (January 6) after admitting to breaching the terms of his release, according to ABC7 New York.

His initial charges stem from a 2018 federal racketeering case involving associates from a criminal group.

This marks his second return to prison within a little over a year for similar violations.

Luigi Magione is another inmate, accused of murdering United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in 2024.

He remains in detention without bail following a pre-trial hearing in December.

Real estate agents Tal and Oren Alexander, facing sex trafficking charges, are also among the MDC detainees.

Previous MDC inmates have included Ghislaine Maxwell, associated with Jeffrey Epstein, P. Diddy—now at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey—former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, R. Kelly, and rapper Fetty Wap.

Others like former pharma CEO Martin Shkreli, NXIVM cult leader Keith Raniere, and adult film star Austin Wolf, convicted of distributing child pornography, have also spent time there.

The internet has taken notice of the notorious roster of prisoners.

“The real-life Arkham Asylum,” one individual commented, while another humorously suggested, “They gotta let them make a podcast together.”

“Put a production crew in there and we’d have the best TV show of all time,” said a third observer.

Meanwhile, a fourth person joked: “‘Just get on Hinge, there’s good people on there’. The people on Hinge: [photo of the MDC inmates].”
