Jennifer Lawrence discusses her preference for filming NSFW scenes with unfamiliar actors

Jennifer Lawrence has shared her perspective on why she finds it easier to film intimate scenes with actors she doesn’t know.

Shooting sex scenes in films or TV shows has always been a challenging aspect, with varied opinions on what constitutes appropriate practices in such situations.

Understandably, in most professions, getting too close with a colleague would typically result in a visit to HR. However, in the acting world, this is sometimes part of the job description.

Intimacy coordinators are a relatively new addition to the industry. These professionals help set boundaries and ensure that everyone involved in such scenes is at ease.

They also serve to protect individuals from feeling pressured into uncomfortable situations, which can be especially important for those new to the industry.

Jennifer Lawrence, having been a prominent figure in Hollywood for some time, has participated in several intimate scenes. She revealed her preference when it comes to handling this sensitive aspect of acting.

Lawrence expressed that she feels more comfortable filming such scenes with strangers rather than with close friends, as it reduces the awkwardness.

In an interview with PEOPLE about working with Robert Pattinson, she stated: “It was actually easier that way, because Rob and I did not know each other. Which is kind of better, you know?

“Imagine it! So yeah, doing it with a stranger is preferable.”

The Hunger Games actress recounted a particularly unusual scene from her recent project with Pattinson, Die My Love.

“It was these actors, and they’re attacking each other like tigers,” she recalled, “and we were like, ‘OK, yeah,’ and she was like, ‘Can you do it naked, yeah?’ [imitating Ramsay’s Scottish accent]. We were like, ‘Oh, OK,’ and that was the first day on set.”

What an introduction to filming!

In the past, Lawrence filmed a kissing scene with her co-star Josh Hutcherson, which she found ‘weirder’ due to their friendship.

The 35-year-old actress also mentioned that she often experiences ‘anxiety’ before starting a new film, and tackling the more challenging scenes with a new co-star first helps alleviate that stress.
