Nikki Glaser discloses a single actor is ‘off-limits’ for roasting at Golden Globes

Nikki Glaser has revealed she’s opting for a gentler tone when it comes to roasting one particular actor at the upcoming Golden Globes.

While the Golden Globes is a night full of hopes for many actors aiming to win accolades, it also comes with its share of playful jests.

With comedians often at the helm, celebrities have come to expect some ribbing, which has become an anticipated part of the ceremony for audiences.

These comedic roasts can lead to memorable moments, such as Ricky Gervais’ infamous critiques of Hollywood, although they sometimes spark controversy.

Comedian Nikki Glaser, hosting for the second consecutive year, is known for her bold on-stage humor. Last year, she experienced some backlash due to a joke about Diddy.

Despite this, Glaser is excited about the upcoming award show.

She humorously mentioned plans to poke fun at A-listers Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney this year, sharing that she would handle any repercussions by avoiding them in the future. She remarked that she’s not likely to attend the same parties as DiCaprio and could easily steer clear of Clooney without inconvenience.

She quipped: “I think that’s a safer plan than just texting them. I feel like they’re in a different Illuminati level.”

However, Glaser mentioned there is one actor she intends to handle with care, acknowledging that it might not be well-received by the audience.

She noted that she will likely tread lightly around Julia Roberts, not due to any fresh scandals but because of Roberts’ public image.

She stated: “People don’t want to laugh about Julia.

“People don’t think that’s funny, you don’t laugh about her. She’s protected. She’s like our Kate Middleton.”

Nonetheless, she expressed her desire for everyone to enjoy the event and avoid upsetting anyone.

She concluded: “I don’t want to make anyone upset.”

It appears Glaser plans to deliver some cleverly aimed jabs at the glamorous stars, though she is careful not to cross any lines—or perhaps it’s all part of a grand setup for a legendary roast.

The Golden Globes is renowned for its candid moments, iconic fashion statements, and sometimes dramatic occurrences. Here are some noteworthy highlights from past ceremonies.

One standout moment from last year’s event was Zendaya’s notable ring on her finger.

Although the Euphoria star has yet to confirm her engagement to Spider-Man lead Tom Holland, a family source told PEOPLE that the pair are indeed engaged.

The internet buzzed over an exchange between two singers, leading fans to speculate about their conversation.

While many thought it involved Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet, also present at the Golden Globes, Gomez later clarified on social media that she was sharing a story about ‘two of her friends who hooked up’.

The comedian’s initial hosting of the Golden Globes didn’t quite hit the mark, with his jokes prompting mixed reactions, illustrated by Selena Gomez’s reaction of putting her head in her hands at one point.

Koy appeared to acknowledge the situation, commenting: “I got this gig 10 days ago, you want a perfect monologue?!”

After winning the award for best actress in a limited series or TV movie for her role in Fosse/Verdon, Williams delivered a moving speech on women’s reproductive rights.

“I wouldn’t have been able to do this without employing a woman’s right to choose,” she declared. “To choose when to have my children, and with whom.

“I am grateful to live in a moment in our society where choice exists, because as girls and women, things can happen to our bodies that are not our choice.”

During his opening remarks at the 2018 ceremony, Meyers targeted several disgraced Hollywood figures, including Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey.

“Good evening ladies and remaining gentlemen… It’s 2018. Marijuana is finally allowed, and sexual harassment finally isn’t,” he stated.

Fey and Poehler didn’t shy away from critiquing A-list actors during their 2014 Golden Globes monologue.

“Like a supermodel’s vagina, let’s all give a warm welcome to Leonardo DiCaprio,” Fey quipped, while she commented on George Clooney’s film Gravity: “It’s the story of how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.”

When Jack Nicholson accepted his award for best actor in a drama for his role in About Schmidt, he candidly told the audience he was high on Valium, a medication for anxiety relief.

When Renée Zellweger was declared the winner of the best actress in a musical or comedy for Nurse Betty, she was initially absent from the stage.

As Hugh Grant began to accept the award on her behalf, Zellweger finally appeared and confessed she’d been in the bathroom removing lipstick from her teeth—a relatable moment.

Brad Pitt, upon winning best supporting actor for 12 Monkeys, humorously dedicated his win to Kaopectate, an anti-diarrhea medication.

“I’d like to thank…actually, the makers of Kaopectate,” Pitt remarked. “They’ve done a great service for their fellow man.”
