Connor McGregor married his long-time fiancée Dee Devlin at The Vatican last month, and the reactions online have been quite consistent.
The former MMA star exchanged vows at the historic Chiesa di Santo Stefano Degli Abissini on December 12, 2025. Their relationship began after meeting in a Dublin nightclub in 2008.
Before the wedding, McGregor, who had been found liable for sexual assault in a 2024 Irish civil case regarding Nikita Hand, revealed he had participated in a 36-hour psychedelic drug treatment in Mexico.
The 37-year-old wrote: “Hey guys, I am back. I was blessed to meet the most forward thinking doctors from Stanford University and undergo a series of treatments to address trauma.
“I travelled to Tijuana Mexico and underwent Ibogaine treatment at AMBIO. Watch the Netflix documentary just released titled In Waves and War as it is the exact place I went.

“It was incredible, intense, and absolutely eye opening. I was shown what would have been my death. How soon it was to be, and how it would have impacted my children. I was looking down on myself as it happened, and then I was looking out from the coffin.”
McGregor shared photos from his wedding day on Instagram, explaining that the psychedelic experience motivated his decision to marry his partner.
People quickly took to social media to express their thoughts on McGregor’s decision to get married, with one user on X commenting: “Sooo bro got married because of Ibogaine, but not because he loves his wife lmao wut….”
Another added: “‘I got so high I married my wife’ is not the flex you think it is.”
Despite the skepticism, there was a lot of praise for the wedding. One fan wrote on Instagram: “So beautiful!! THE MCGREGORS!”
Another remarked: “Beautiful! Congratulations! God bless your marriage.”
McGregor shared several images from the wedding on his Instagram account, including shots of the newlyweds with their children.
In the caption, he stated: “I married the love of my life, Dee, on the 12th of the 12th at exactly 12:12pm. We wed in the Chapel of Santo Stefano degli Abissini — the Vatican’s oldest church.
“I awoke from the treatment I underwent in Mexico with the most intense need to wed Dee, on this day, and in the Vatican. So I set about it with great urgency! It is clear this was not coincidence.
“God’s hand guided every detail, confirming His blessing on our union and His presence in my life. Serving God is my number one priority.”
