The father-in-law of Renee Nicole Good has spoken out following her tragic death at the hands of an ICE agent in Minneapolis, leaving many shocked by his remarks.
Renee, a 37-year-old mother of three, was fatally shot last Wednesday during a vehicle-related incident amid the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in the Twin Cities. The ICE agent, Jonathan Ross, fired multiple rounds into her car.
The incident occurred shortly after Good had dropped her six-year-old son off at school. She was attempting to drive away from a confrontation between ICE officers and protesters, with her wife among the demonstrators.
Timmy Macklin, the father of Good’s late husband, quoted Bible scriptures and acknowledged his support for Trump while discussing his daughter-in-law’s death. He described the shooting as a difficult situation for everyone involved.

In an interview on CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront, Macklin stated, “I’m not blaming anybody,” and aligned with ICE and the Trump administration’s assertions that Good used her car to attack federal agents, although this claim lacks video evidence to support it.
He elaborated: “I mean, the ICE agent, you know, at first I didn’t see the footage where… he was actually being rammed. I mean, I’ve seen the bumper of the car hitting his legs. And so in a flash like that, it’s hard to say how you would react.”
Meanwhile, President Trump has labeled Good a ‘domestic terrorist,’ and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem accused her of using her car to attempt harm against agents.
Macklin, whose son was married to Good for five years before his passing in 2023 and who fathered her son Emerson, described Good as a ‘great person’ but also conveyed disapproval of her actions.
He remarked: “I think there’s some bad choices… if we’re walking in the spirit of God, I don’t think she would have been there. That’s the way I look at it.”

Macklin also commented on Good’s decisions after she remarried, expressing lack of agreement with all her actions: “Do I agree with everything that she did? Absolutely not.”
Regarding ICE agent Ross’s derogatory comments following the shooting, Macklin suggested that such language indicated a lack of spiritual guidance: “His statement that he made after the incident, the things he called her, I mean, that’s definitely showing evidence that he don’t know the Lord like he should.”
During the interview, Macklin watched a segment featuring President Trump, who softened his tone from his earlier labeling of Good as a ‘domestic terrorist.’
Trump said, “I would bet you that she, under normal circumstances, was a very solid, wonderful person. But her actions were pretty tough. I’ve seen it many ways and many different shapes and forms.”
Macklin responded with: “Renee was an amazing person, she was full of life, full of joy, a real gentle, good mother. I just think we make bad choices and that’s the problem.”
