Recently, the highly anticipated Pokémon LEGO set was released online, and it quickly sold out, sparking a debate among fans regarding its pricing.
If you haven’t already heard, LEGO has teamed up with Pokémon to create a special collaboration that includes three sought-after sets: Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, Pikachu and Poké Ball (£179.99), and Eevee (£54.99).
In just a few hours, the extensive 6,939-piece Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise set was temporarily out of stock in the US. This was largely due to fans’ eagerness to obtain the limited-edition gift with purchase: the Kanto Region Badge Collection.
Crafted for dedicated Pokémon enthusiasts, the GWP is a collectible item that showcases eight regional badges: Boulder, Cascade, Thunder, Rainbow, Soul, Marsh, Volcano, and Earth.
This set is crafted with 312 pieces and features a clasp that draws inspiration from a Poké Ball.
The impressive 6,838-piece set of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise includes figures representing three Pokémon evolutions based on the original designs.

Given its limited-edition status, the gift with purchase is unlikely to be restocked, leaving second-hand marketplaces like eBay as the only option for acquisition.
The rapid sell-out has left some fans feeling let down, with many expressing mixed feelings about the hefty $649.99 price tag.
One person on Reddit noted, “In regards to it being LEGO and brick-to-price, it’s generally less than 10 cents per brick, which is reasonable enough,” adding, “With that being said, yeah no. $650 for a LEGO set is madness, Pokémon or not.”

Another user commented, “Pikachu seems a little expensive given the size, otherwise these seem like pretty standard LEGO prices as far. As I’m aware, big sets are very expensive.”
A third person shared: “I don’t understand why this set is causing such a huge outcry, when it’s literally priced more reasonably than most licensed LEGO sets.”
For context, the recent Stranger Things Creel House (2,593 pieces) was priced at $299.99, while the Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D™ (3,600 pieces) cost $399.99.
Wondering what’s still available and if the gift with purchase will make a comeback? Here’s the latest information.
As previously mentioned, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise are back in stock and available for pre-order here.
As of now, you can still purchase Pikachu and Poké Ball (£179.99) and Eevee (£54.99) if you act quickly. These sets do not include a gift with purchase.
The Eevee set contains 587 pieces and features a movable tail, head, and limbs.
Meanwhile, the Pokémon Pikachu and Poké Ball set consists of 2,050 pieces and includes a black lightning rod base, readying Pikachu for action. Best of luck!
