A couple who invited another woman to join their relationship has shared insights into life as a throuple and its impact on their romantic dynamics.
Alana Underwood and Kevin Jankay had been in a committed relationship for three years before making a significant decision in their partnership in 2020.
Instead of tying the knot, they opted to include a third person in their intimate life.
Though Alana had previously identified as straight and dated men exclusively, she reached a point where she wanted to explore her potential romantic attraction to women.
Rather than ending things with Kevin, the couple mutually agreed to engage in a one-time encounter with another woman.
As of 2026, Alana and Kevin continue to enjoy a happy relationship, which evolved from that initial encounter into a full-fledged polyamorous commitment with Megan Smith.

When they first met, Megan was married to another woman, and their connection led to more frequent meetings.
Over time, Alana and Kevin discovered their feelings for Megan transcended the physical, developing into romantic affection.
Several months into their meetings, Megan parted ways with her wife for reasons unrelated to Alana and Kevin. By January 2021, the three had officially become a throuple.
Discussing the changes brought about by adding a third person to their relationship, Kevin told PEOPLE: “You get double the support and double the affection. You can bounce something off one person and get feedback from another.
“If you’re in a quarrel or an argument with one person, the other person can show a perspective that you might not see because you’re in the heat of the moment.”

Megan noted that for their relationship to thrive, they had to acknowledge that achieving perfect equality among their individual relationships was unrealistic.
“The way you love each individual person is different,” she explained. “That doesn’t mean it’s more or less — it’s just a different type of relationship. Like, mine and Alana’s relationship is very different from mine and Kevin’s. But that doesn’t mean it’s more or less. It’s just a different experience and a different type of love.”
The trio shares their experiences on social media. Their Instagram account, ‘Camp Throuple,’ boasts 231,000 followers, and they also have nearly 300,000 followers on TikTok.
