Vice President JD Vance, alongside his wife Usha, has joyfully announced that they are anticipating the arrival of their fourth child.
The announcement was made via Instagram on Tuesday, January 20, where they revealed they are expecting a baby boy. They assured followers that both Usha and the baby are ‘doing well’.
The Vance family currently includes three children: Ewan, 8; Vivek, 5; and Mirabel, 4.
The Instagram post stated, “We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy. Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July.”
“During this exciting and hectic time, we are particularly grateful for the military doctors who take excellent care of our family and for the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children.”

This pregnancy is noteworthy as it marks the first time a second lady has been pregnant while her husband serves in office.
Usha is familiar with breaking new ground; she is the youngest woman to serve as second lady in over 75 years, succeeding Jane Hadley Barkley, the wife of Harry Truman’s vice president, Alben Barkley, who was 38 when she assumed the role in 1949.
The impending new arrival aligns with JD Vance’s long-standing advocacy for family growth, a theme he has emphasized throughout his political career.
On the campaign trail for his Ohio senate seat, Vance made headlines with a controversial statement where he criticized childless Democrats as ‘a bunch of childless cat ladies’.
In a Fox News interview, Vance commented, “We are effectively run in this country … by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made, and so they wanna make the rest of the country miserable, too.

“It’s just a basic fact. You look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez), the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children.
“And how does it make any sense that we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it?”
Vance reiterated his stance on family and procreation during a 2025 March for Life, where he shared a positive message about increasing the birth rate.
“Let me say very simply: I want more babies in the United States of America,” he stated.
“I want more happy children in our country, and I want beautiful young men and women who are eager to welcome them into the world and eager to raise them.”
