A Look into the Current Life of the “Deadpool Killer” After Convictions and Fan Fascination

Some individuals develop an unusual fascination with real-life criminals.

Wade Wilson, hailing from Florida, gained notoriety for the separate murders of Kristine Melton, 35, and Diane Ruiz, 43, in 2019.

He earned the moniker ‘Deadpool Killer’ due to the coincidental sharing of his name with the alter ego of the Marvel character.

In a chilling police interview following the incidents, Wilson reportedly stated he would ‘do it again’.

The murderer, who has various tattoos on his face including a swastika under his right eye, has attracted love letters from thousands of women globally.

Wilson committed both heinous acts on the same day and was later convicted of two counts of first-degree murder in June 2024.

Following his conviction, a judge in Florida sentenced him to death twice, once for each murder.

Wilson currently resides on death row at the Union Correctional Institution, where he will remain if his appeals against the death sentences are unsuccessful.

According to People, Wilson is confined under strict conditions, spending most of his time in his cell with minimal contact with the outside world.

In a bizarre twist, he has received countless letters of admiration from women, along with financial contributions for his appeal efforts.

Some of these funds were used to purchase a suit for his court appearances.

Certain admirers have even tattooed Wilson’s name on themselves.

The support for Wilson has been met with condemnation from state attorney Amira Fox, who serves the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida.

Fox stated: “It has not gone unnoticed that this defendant has been is being idolized by some people who are somehow proud to mix their name with his through public comments, fundraising for him or holding him up to be some sort of positive representation of a man, ignoring that he is nothing more than a vicious killer and about the most poor representation of a man there could ever be.”

She further expressed: “He murdered a woman in her own home who did nothing to harm him, Kristine Melton, as she simply slept in her bed, murdered another woman, Diane Ruiz, who was simply walking to work.

“Both these women physically suffered tremendously due to his decision to kill and due to his horrible actions.”

Wilson’s notoriety has even led to a documentary being produced about him, examining why the double murderer has captured so much attention.

Handsome Devil: Charming Killer premiered on Paramount+ on January 20.
