Donald Trump has commented on the shooting of Alex Pretti following demands for an inquiry.
On Saturday, January 24, another American, 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretti, was fatally shot in Minnesota by federal immigration officers.
This incident has triggered outrage across political lines and has been criticized by former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.
The discourse surrounding the event focuses on whether the officers’ actions were justified and includes analysis of the footage capturing the moments before and after Pretti’s death.
Donald Trump has now addressed the matter and has also shared his expectations regarding when agents might withdraw from Minneapolis.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump did not specify whether he believed the shooting was justified. He stated, “We’re looking, we’re reviewing everything and will come out with a determination.”
Trump added, “I don’t like any shooting. I don’t like it. But I don’t like it when somebody goes into a protest and he’s got a very powerful, fully loaded gun with two magazines loaded up with bullets also. That doesn’t play good either.”
He further described Pretti’s firearm, a Sig Sauer P320 9mm pistol, as ‘very dangerous,’ calling it an unpredictable weapon that can discharge unexpectedly.
The footage of Pretti’s shooting reveals his attempt to assist a woman who had been pushed into the snow by an officer.
He was then pepper sprayed and subdued to the ground. The video shows a confrontation before officers fired multiple shots at him.
While not providing a specific timeline, Trump suggested that federal agents would eventually withdraw from the area.

He remarked, “At some point, we will leave. We’ve done, they’ve done a phenomenal job. We’ll leave a different group of people there for the financial fraud.”
This comment appears to reference ongoing investigations into alleged welfare fraud in Minnesota.
On Truth Social, Trump urged Democrat politicians to collaborate moving forward.
In a post, he declared, “The Trump Administration is standing by and waiting for ANY Democrat to do the right thing and work with us on these important matters of MAKING AMERICA SAFE like it is in all sections of our country where we are, together with Local Leadership, participating and involved.”
