Audience members have been voicing their opinions on Miley Cyrus’ response after Lady Gaga won at this evening’s Grammy Awards.
Both artists were contenders for Best Pop Vocal Album, with nominations also going to Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and Teddy Swims.
While it’s common practice to appear pleased for the winner when you don’t win, maintaining that facade can be challenging—a fact Angela Bassett can certainly attest to.
The announcement of Gaga’s victory was made by Teyana Taylor and Nikki Glaser, capturing the moment where the ‘Abracadabra’ singer covered her face with her hands, overwhelmed with emotion.
In a touching gesture, her fiancé Michael Polansky kissed her on the head before she approached the stage to accept her award.
Meanwhile, the cameras caught Carpenter standing and applauding for Gaga, while Miley Cyrus and her fiancé Maxx Morando were shown next.
Cyrus and Morando remained seated while others around them rose to their feet for Gaga. Cyrus appeared somewhat unenthusiastic.
Attentive viewers of the Grammys took note of Cyrus’ demeanor.
One Twitter user commented: “Miley Cyrus not standing or clapping when Gaga won….”
Someone else described Cyrus as looking ‘salty as hell’.
A further tweet questioned: “Now I need an explanation on why Miley sat for Gaga….”
Speculation arose over whether there is tension between Cyrus and Gaga.

"[A las mujeres dedicadas a la música], quiero animarlas a que siempre se escuchen a sí mismas y luchen por sus ideas. Luchen por sus canciones. Luchen por ustedes mismas como productoras".
